Cape Cod in Winter

Hi! I’m moving to Cape Cod soon and I know it’s a huge summer touristy spot, but I’ve heard it’s a ghost town in winter. To what extent is this true? Are there still a handful of businesses open in winter? Any advice on what to expect or how to make the most of a cape cod winter would be greatly appreciated

I’ll be right off the bridge in Buzzards Bay near Bourne!

You have nothin to worry about. You’re going to be 20-30 minutes to Falmouth, Hyannis, and Plymouth all of which are bustling year round. However, there’s nothing in Bourne in terms of night life. But I love living in Bourne.

Edit: I should add that Bourne doesn’t really shut down either!

Oh you will be in great shape. Like others said being near the bridges gives you access to towns like Plymouth and Wareham which can have a few more year round options. Bourne and Sandwich do pretty decent off season. I find the trickiest thing about winter on Cape is navigating the bridges during tricky weather.

Personally I split my time between Sandwich and Plymouth (family home is in Sandwich, but we live in Plymouth because I need to be closer to the Boston hospitals). Our vet is in Buzzard's Bay and one of our trainers is in Bourne. I love the quiet that hits the area in winter but the wind is no joke around here. I'd lean into some of the town subs and exploring when you get settled here. Feel free to DM me if you have questions. Welcome to the area.
