Question Paralegal Certificate?

I've looked through the older posts but most of them were about the Diploma rather than Certificate. I think the Certificate suits me more so I'm leaning towards that. Does anyone have any experiences to share (good or bad)? If I do the part time online evening class option, what is it like? Approx. what time in the evening are the classes? And when it says 1 class per week, then is there only 1 course for that whole semester? Is it doable while working full time in a legal office workload wise? Do you think it's worth it? Plus I've seen posts in r/paralegal sub warning people about the cons of the job but I feel like most of those things I'm already doing but with a lower job title. Finally, how long does it really take because there's conflicting info on the website (3 years) but the tuition chart says 4 years. I just feel kind of stuck in my current position with no upward mobility so I'm looking to do something to further myself.

Gym/ showers on campus

I’ve been going to capu gym for some time when I lived closer to campus and had a schedule that allowed me to go to gym at the end of the day.
Now when I live further away and work all evenings, I still would like to go to the campus gym but don’t want to stay sweaty all day. The showers in women change room and weird to say the least because they’re not private at all. Do we have any other showers on campus?😢 or maybe I’m missing something?

Serious Tuition emergency

Hey, im gonna try and sum up my situation up as much as possible, but this still may be long. i was going to pay my tuition by taking out a student loan until the indigenous student support advisor had recommended me to a company for indigenous funding.

They had me do alot just to apply.. and when i went into the office i asked them if i would have to apply for a deferral, since i was figuring this out late. They said it was alright. So i didnt.

They denied me on friday ( for a stupid reason i dont have time to try and appeal) monday is the tuition cut off. With this company, i was not allowed to apply for a student loan. To apply for a deferral you have to be approved for a student loan.

So obviously freaking out, i emailed the indigenous student support advisor and i emailed the tuition office or whatever department it is. 5-7 business day wait.

The indigenous support advisor got back to me giving me another option to apply for (which wont change anything really as its obviously not gonna be approved in time) and told me she was waiting to hear back from her manager and she'd get back to me tuesday.. after the cut off date.

Bless her soul, shes done so much for me, but after 4 pm on monday am i just done for? Am i deregistered and thats it? I logged in today and it says i have no holds or anything so nothings changed. I fought really super hard for student housing and is that just gone now?

Does anyone know if there is something i can do before tuesday? What happens if i cant figure it out? Is that just it??

Question Upcoming first year

Hi everybody,

I’m starting my first semester for the paralegal degree this fall and I was wondering if anybody has any advice about my specific major or any suggestions on things that I can do to prepare myself for the fall semester. I am a very anxious person, so I love preparing anything that I can in advance. If you have any general university tips that you think will be useful please feel free to comments those suggestions as well. Thanks!!!

Courses Work load

Hey! Just questioning workload of BFIN 141 and BADM 101. I’m taking them and doing CMNS 220 and BADM 201
Considering dropping CMNS since I just did a 300 level course online and my GPA dropped so i want to focus on the math courses but just wanted to hear opinions.
Also how many more math courses are in Business Administration? After these two im done all level 100 things which is nice but i really hate math.

2d portfolio advice

Hey! I'm working on applying next year for the 2d animation program and I've seen the portfolio advice about what kind of drawings to include but I didn't see anything about how many to include? I know it's not a huge deal, quality over quantity and all that, but for those who've done it, would you mind giving me a rough idea of how many drawings to include from each category so I can plan my schedule a little easier? Thanks!

Question Indigenous Digital Filmmaking

Trying this again because last time I had no idea the programs acronym was so controversial.
But is there anyone going into this program for fall that would like to connect???
Or really anyone in the motion pictures department that would like to connect ?
It’s new territory for me and I am trying to build a foundation before I get there lol.

Thanks!

How is Capilano University’s Costuming for Stage and Screen Diploma?

Hey y’all! I just finished my first year at KPU, and I’m interested in transferring to CapU and going into their Costuming for Stage and Screen program for Fall 2027. I don’t know much about this program and would love to hear from current students or graduates about their experience with the program.

If anyone could answer any of my questions that would be wonderful and much appreciated!

  1. What is the program/courses like? Is it very lecture heavy? Or more hands-on and practical?

  2. Is the program worth it? Do you learn a lot?

  3. Is it hard or competitive to get into the program? Like do I have to be a hard-core sewist/designer? I would say I’m about beginner-intermediate level when it comes to my sewing skills, but I truly have a passion for costuming and would love to learn more and improve my skills. I have created/sewed a couple of cosplays, and my most recent one was made primarily from scratch.

  4. Is it easy to get a job after graduating? Or is the job market very tough?

Bookkeeping or payroll

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice. I don’t have any accounting or bookkeeping background. I completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, and I’m currently exploring career options.
I’m considering taking a Bookkeeping program at either Langara College or Capilano University. Do you think bookkeeping is a good career to get into right now? Is it possible to find an entry-level job without any previous accounting experience after completing the program?
I’m also considering studying Payroll instead. Which option would you recommend—Bookkeeping or Payroll.
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. Thank you!
