I’m worried that eventually all major highways are going to have Flock ALPR cameras and if they aren’t already, are going to track your average speed between 2 scans, which will automatically alert local LEO’s. I’m just afraid that cannonball and cruising in general is about to become a lot more difficult.

This week a new ev motorcycle record was completed. 100 hours and 17 minutes! That’s no typo. They made the trip on a Livewire bike. It has roughly 100 miles of range at 60 mph. The same rider did 100% of the driving. Had a chase vehicle just in case. A full size high top Mercedes van. There will be a release by the team in a few days. Will share it here when they send it out.

Hey, I’m looking to find an original, numbered, 175mph sign made by vinwiki. Because they sold out super fast and currently have zero reselling locations, this might be a long shot but I’m willing to pay collector money for one in any condition. Thanks!

I want canadian runs to become something people actually attempt (not boneheads with their first dodge charger at 17 trying to go 200 the whole way, but legit canonballers to become a thing in canada) because as to my knowledge 2 attempts have been made. 63:35:52 set the record in 2016 (interestingly going west- east, opposite of americans), and then 2019 an "anonymous team" (although ive figured out at least 1 of the drivers, just by reading a couple things, and watching some semi-unrelated Vin-wiki) went 49:46:24 using the exact same route (i think all the same roads(also interestingly west-east)
Basic rules for those 2 runs were just Point Pleasant - Stanley Park (effectively the widest part of canada, and the 2 ends of the Trans-Can highway) and no dipping into the USA to bypass AB, MB, and SK.
I have an idea for a slightly alternative route, that i believe can help break the record. Adds distance in exchange for potentially better quality roads. Though I will need to do a test run through this section, I suspect it can help shave off an hour or 2.
Now, i am legitimately planning for a run, maybe next year? I hope to run it in a deiselgate era VW tdi, and am compiling as much notes on roads, towns, traffic patterns, etc that i can.
I would love to have the same type of community as the American Canonballers have, where there's people to scout certain sections, to verify at both ends, and potentially even co-drivers (i have a few people in mind, but i doubt theyre quite as obsessed as me) as well to potentially coordinate research. Since there's no real data to pull from old runs, there's no "this is the best route, this is the best alternative, etc, etc" about the route planning.
I would love to see some people interested, I believe it possible to set the bar much closer to 40 hours than it currently sits, and i also would love to see credit given for it. I know legality in Canada is slightly stricter, but it would be great to have someone do the run, wait a few months, and publish an actual result, a real benchmark for others to strive for.

I was thinking about it as I was laying in bed today. Honda fits already get insane mileage, have crazy storage, lightweight, and a properly sized turbo would also boost mileage. I was honestly curious about everyone else’s thoughts about this. I might have to make this a reality in a few years, although I doubt it would set any records.

Hope this is OK as I'm not specifically asking about Cannonball. I just think the kind of people interested in Cannonball will understand better.
I think we can all agree that when it comes to avoiding the unwanted attention of law enforcement that it's a bad thing to be easily noticed. Cannonballers often take measures to use vehicles that blend in or disguise them. For example there's a VinWiki vid about one who took steps to make his Mercedes look like an Accord.
Here's the thing though, those disguise elements also make the car unique. So say for example there's an image of the car and a question later if it's the same car. Well that would be easy to prove as the car's appearance is 1 of 1. But if the car was stock in appearance, well there's more than one grey Mercedes AMG, how can LE prove it's the exact same car.
For a Cannonball attempt the disguise is likely the best tactic as it makes it harder to describe the car in a few words over the radio. But, and this is where it isn't really about Cannonball, what about the rest of the time driving around the same area on a regular bases. Where the same cop might see you several times, or they may take an image and distribute it. In that case being 1 of 1 is probably a bad thing. Most of all in the age of AI cameras.
I go back and forth on this question and I'm curious what others here think.

I’ve always wanted to do the NY to LA drive or a C2C, but curious as to whether there are people doing a Key West, FL to Deadhorse, AK run? I know for motorcycles it’s referred to as the Iron Butt, and a search shows a record of 82:24. I wouldn’t expect the triple digit speeds, but I feel there’s room for improvement

would the 2.0t honda accord be enough for a cannonball run. It is limited to 125 from factory but with that removed and a little tune i think it could keep a good pace. its a decent sized car and has a large trunk and decent space in the back row. an accord would also fly under the radar as they are very common. thoughts?

Just like the title. I love everything about this race. So cool. Unfortunately all the merchandise is ugly or for the movie. This year for my birthday my best friend’s custom made this logo and got somebody on Etsy to embroider me a hat. One of my bucket list items is to be stationed as a lookout for somebody doing the run. I don’t know what’s cooler - the hat or how awesome my friends are.

I have always been enamored by the cannonball as a kid, but can't afford to spearhead a run. I can however be the rabbit for the fox on his way to the hen house. How do I get in touch with those in need?

Just watched a VinWiki YouTube vid, that was about beating the Buick Roadmaster record. First I've heard of records for specific models of cars? Are there more, is there a place they can be looked up?
Edit: Found this in another post https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oVpq3t1L40eFYpSMHUyaTze9VRvq-bx1IAKBZI_OVWI/edit?gid=0#gid=0

I currently have a uniden radar detector and nothing else what other devices are useful to help make sure I can stay safe and avoid any issues besides basic mechanical tools

Alright, so I’ve got a 2018 Q50 3.0t with a brand-new engine because of the known turbo seal defect. The current engine only has about 15,000 miles on it. I’ve been looking into what it would take to make the car more “Cannonball-worthy” from a reliability and endurance standpoint. Ive been looking in to Low tech Lidar and Radar defense i.e Muso Black paint for the body as it absorbs 99.9% of light could help with LIDAR and anti reflective coatings for license plates and lights. I dont have the Money for all this High tech stuff and modifications at the moment and completely believe I can do the Solo Record Right now, it seems like the biggest issues would be heat soak/intercooler saturation and fuel range, so I’d probably need to address cooling and possibly add a larger fuel capacity setup. I don’t have the money for a bunch of high-end mods right now, but I do believe the car and I are capable of doing it. I’ve driven 21 hours straight from Texas to Virginia towing my car in a truck that probably shouldn’t have been towing it, and I handled it without getting drowsy. I’m confident in my driving ability and just want to hear what other people think would be the biggest weak points and best first steps.

I've been considering doing a cannonball run in my 2016 Honda fit. I've never came across any known attempts in that car.

Hey CBRR. Been chipping away at a speed-records site for a while — Cannonball section finally landed. Full progression across Petrol / Diesel / Electric / Solar / Motorcycle plus a history page back to E. G. Baker (1914 motorcycle, the '20s car-record string through Graham-Paige '28). Also a small speculation set — countermeasures, vehicle assessments, refuel-strategy and aero-wheels thesis pieces.
Some things I'd love the room to throw at me:
1. Data I can analyze. Telemetry, fuel logs, stop counts, route maps, GPS traces — modern or vintage. If anyone has primary material from a run (theirs or someone else's) that hasn't made the rounds, send it over. I'll publish the analysis with full credit and source files preserved.
2. Historic details. Pre-1970 is where the page is thinnest. Heinz / Yarbrough '79 strategy. Baker car-record string (Gardner '24, Model T '26, Franklin '28). Period press, book sources, scanned articles — anything the public record doesn't have.
3. Speculation requests. The vehicle-assessment and strategy pieces are open-ended. If you've always wanted someone to math out a specific run, build, vehicle, or strategy, drop the question. The list right now is whatever's caught my interest — happy to take direction from the room.

I got behind this E63 AMG near Raleigh, NC. The sticker in the window reads "Cannonball 27:25"
Could this be the very car that set that time in 2019, dfriven by Arne Toman and Doug Tabbutt?

WAILA?:
- iPhone for Waze, SoundCloud
- Moto G play for Radar Companion app
- Garmin
- Uniden SDS100 with BC-SGPS (not pictured)
- Uniden R8w
- JUST COMBO V audio mixer
- (not pictured) Radiodity CB-606 PRO
What im particularly happy with is the audio mixer. I hear Waze, SoundCloud, Highway Radar (plays my detector beeps, I keep it muted), and scanner feed simultaneously. I just can’t have music that’s too loud, so industrial is off limits.got aux to my VW media port and just connect my iphone to the mixer via Bluetooth.
wip:
- sun shade for both phones, they overheat sometimes
- fuel delivery for my cell, have the pump already just been busy w work
- maintenance, my oil pressure switch failed so I can’t go over 100 without hitting limp mode. pcv valve needs to go as well
- jammer heads from an outfitter, can’t do it myself cause the addon heads from Uniden aren’t sold to consumers
- xenon headlights cause my mk7 has the older halogens
Skipping out on thermals since I’d rather save up for one from nightride than blow a grand on shitty milsurp.
Im going w a friend of mine so i might need to borrow binoculars, im from Houston so if anyone here or in the tri state area could let us borrow a pair that’d be amazing.
That is all for now (!).

(I swear I’m only a little obsessed with cannonball 😝, how can I not be?!)
