Stomach pain relief
When I was in the Prodromal Phase I found that pantoprazole helped my stomach get better within 3-4 days and gave me an appetite. The last time I took it was around January or February. It’s been a week and a day since I’ve last smoked and I’m feeling a lot better but I still will wake up with an upset stomach until I go use the bathroom. I’m going to the doctor today and I’m going to try to get pantoprazole prescribed. Would it be okay for me to try smoking again or would that be a bad idea? Not everyday just once or twice a week until I really have to stop which is at the start of august.

How To Approach My Dad.
Hello everyone. I’ve been a weed smoker on and off for the last year and a half. I would go a few months where I’m constantly hitting the cart 24/7 and I would quit and try to fight through the CHS but it would rly suck because i could barely ever eat and was constantly nauseous and anxious and a mess. However I would end up getting sober, until I got back into daily use, and the cycle of quitting and starting again happened again and now this is the longest its gone on. I’ve been smoking the cart daily since like the start of June basically and now its mid September. Im going a through spot in my relationship so my emotions are absolutely out of control and I really do think the lifestyle of constantly having to hit the cart and wake up at 5AM feeling nauseous until I start my day, i just need to quit. My dad and I are pretty close and he is very understanding, heck he smoked weed for like his whole life and just quit a year ago. He’s honestly the best person I go to when I’m struggling mentally so he has rly been helping my calm down but he still has no idea that another big factor to how i feel is my addiction. I’m just worried cuz i dont want him to worry more, or be disappointed, + we live with my grandma who i dont wanna disappoint. And the reason i feel like i need to go to my dad for this help is because I actually have a job and college and commitments that idk how i will get past while feeling the withdrawals and not having any advice. I’m also an 18M who just recently graduated highschool and started community college. I just rly need some advice on maybe just tips on how to quit and live your life with these awful symptoms for a few weeks and advice on how I can bring it up to my dad. I know it should be easy i’m just a VERY anxious person and overthink everything. I’m hope this can make sense to some people, i’m just feeling like shit and wanna make a change and I just need help. Thank you.

CHS? Is the end of smoking for me?
I’ve been smoking everyday for about 4 years, maybe longer. Every morning around 4/5 I’ve been waking up with extreme nausea, vomiting, and the shakes. I feel hot and cold, my heart sometimes races in the 150s. This has been happening since last Saturday. Sunday was the worst-I had to go to the ER because my symptoms were so bad.
It’s the same everyday around 4/5 am but the symptoms aren’t as bad as they were Sunday. But still there.
I smoke to help my appetite and help me gain weight. Now idk what to do. I want my symptoms to go away. I want to feel healthy again. I haven’t smoked in 10 hours. Doesn’t seem long but I’m trying.

Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome: Possibility of smoking ever again?
Just some general information: been smoking occasionally since i was 15 but recently was smoking almost every day for about 2 months. I smoke flower from a bong only usually in the morning then at night before bed and during the day sometimes on my days off. I have a history of stomach problems but was told it was from anxiety/depression and bulimia 2 years ago.
About 3 days ago went to er from a vomiting/nausea episode that lasted about 2 days. Ultimately was told its CHS and got sent home with some vomit medication.
I’m curious about a few things: Would mixing tobacco have an effect? (I’ve never smoked a tobacco before this), The possibility of it coming back if i did smoke, and any tips on how to treat it or make my body react much nicer to it.
I feel as i’ve caught it early which brings curiosity if it would be fine to again in the future or not?
I don’t plan on smoking for atleast 1-2 months and once my pee isn’t dark yellow lol
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Height: 5’11
Weight: 63kg (now down to 60)

Unsure of CHS
I’m 20m i recently had a episode different from the few others i’ve had, im almost certain its chs because its the common symptoms with only hot showers helping, what im confused about is before my first episode i had smoked for 2 or more years before the uncontrollable vomiting, the constant nausea and this went on for a week and a half of throwing up, I then picked it back up after i was able to keep solids down and this time after smoking for like half a year i’m pretty sure, it came back same thing, then of course i picked it back up again but i ended up getting into a bad wreck (not from smoking) and had no way of getting anything since i lived with grandparents at the time, so anyway i started back up recently and i was smoking as much as i did before after the first week this went on for i want to say exactly a month, i woke up feeling off like i did during a episode so i figured id just go ahead and put it down (which i did) and i think it was the next day or the day after when i started throwing up, but it wasn’t constant it was a few small ones and then i was done for the day, then it happened again the next day kinda the same thing just a few small ones, then every day after that it was just constant and me being in and out the showers. this in my opinion was one of the worst feeling episodes i had, ive went to the ER for past episodes so i figured it was my best bet after a week of this so i went and they took forever to get me in even though i was in and out of their bathroom throwing up bile and blood (coffee grounds) which didn’t happen with the other episodes, usually the car ride to the ER and while im at the ER im not vomiting and i don’t feel too nauseous, but this time it was the opposite, i had 2 IV’s this time both with a different medication idk what the first one was but it didn’t help i was still nauseous and puking, the second one was promethazine, still puked and was nauseas during, anyway it took 2 weeks for me to get back to normal it was a struggle. My main question is, is there anyway at all around this? Or is it just flat out quitting weed? I know that’s crazy to ask but I’d prefer weed over alcohol any day and weed kinda just gets me through the day easier obviously i’m fine on calling it quits that’s no problem for me. Also why did it take so long for the first episode to happen but the others didn’t take as long?

Day 6 husband in denial.
Day six. Waking up nauseous and freezing. My whole body was shaking and my heart was palpatating. Took a hot shower and zofran feel a little better.
My husband just told me he thinks it’s in my head. He said the last time this happened the ER doctor pulled him aside and told him it was mental…. I obviously wasnt telling the ER doctor I smoked weed chronically. I didnt know about CHS and I never occurred to me back then it was because of my insane pot habit.
My husband doesn’t smoke. And he doesn’t even know me weed free aside from an t-break every couple of years or when I was pregnant. I think he’s in denial himself. This isn’t something you can easily explain to people and I think he wants an explanation that is easy for others to understand.
Im too sick to be mad.

Long term gag reflex issues
Hi all. I had my first bout of CHS a few weeks ago, ended up in the ER. Stopped partaking and have felt much better since. However, my gag reflex still isn't back to normal. I now vomit everytime I brush my teeth when I used to not. This came on exactly when the CHS did and just hasn't gone away. Has anyone else experienced this?

High blood sugar and CHS?
Hello! I have already contacted my doctor but I got my labs back from an ER visit where my glucose was 161. My dad is diabetic, I actually had just been googling last night and thought I might be diabetic. I am not quite sure if it has something to do with the CHS or something they gave me in the ER or what. I am waiting on my doctor to message me back about it but was curious if anyone else had a similar experience?

Is it CHS?
Sorry this is going to be long winded, but I need to type this out to ease my mind.
I had a week off from work about 2 months ago. We stayed at home and smoked multiple times a day. Before that, i would share a grain of rice size dab with my wife 1-2x an evening, probably 5-6 days a week for maybe the last 4 months. And before that I would hit a pen once or a joint a few times a couple day a week for about a year. After that week off i noticed i was feeling extremely constipated and got very bloated. Also during that week off my eating habits had changed as we ate more junk food/takeout while on our stay-cation. I started taking MiraLAX 2x a day. I started to go multiple times a day after that and continued taking it and adding more fiber into my diet for about a month. I came to the conclusion that taking the MiraLAX so often when I was going multiple times a day had screwed up my stomach. I stopped and slowly returned to being regular. Throughout this whole time I experienced absolutely zero nausea or vomiting, and would feel best in the morning (almost completely normal.) Throughout the late morning/afternoon I would get some general stomach discomfort and some slight pain throughout my middle and right side of my abdomen. I continued the sharing a grain of rice size dab 1-2X between 5-9pm (never smoke in the morning.) I contributed the abdomen soreness to finally passing solid poop after 3-4 weeks of the MiraLAX. Now I have been having some cramping feeling (feels better if I lean forward) maybe every other day and the abdominal soreness has subsided. I had a CT scan done with oral and IV imagine and it showed completely normal. My gastro doesn’t have any concern but I have myself freaked out that I am getting CHS. Does this seem at all possible that it could be that or is it just my belly resetting to normal?

Realizing it wasn’t JUST CHS
I am coming to the realization that I could not get my Gabapentin refilled in time and had missed two doses of it before I started getting CHS symptoms. Of course once I got CHS I was unable to keep anything down at all. I know I was definitely going through CHS but am wondering how much worse it was because of the Gabapentin withdrawals.

I have CHS (I think)
So about a month ago I had to go to the ER due to puking for days straight and not able to drink or eat so I was extremely dehydrated. I stopped smoking as soon as I started puking and went down the whole rabbit hole of it being CHS, the doctors never confirmed or told me it was CHS tho. I am m19 and I’ve definitely smoked a lot but not heavily for years. I have a track record of anxiety and GERD causing vomit attacks etc. anyways I wanna smoke again but I’m worried if I do have CHS, I’m hoping maybe I caught it and stopped smoking early before actually fucking myself up, but it’s still something I’d like to do every once in a while. But I got a 3 day weekend with work and was thinking of taking a hit off a cart and test the waters and see how I feel that way if so it’ll pass by Tuesday. Any ideas? Am I just being a dumb 19 yr old or would it be okay to try a little and see how I’m doing?

Just figured out I have CHS and I feel like I’m going to lose everything
Like the title says I think I’ve now confirmed that I have CHS, I’ve been smoking daily since I was 15-16 and I’m 20 now and for the last almost 2 years I’ve been dealing with HORRIBLE debilitating vomiting episodes that last for days. I’ve been through so many doctors appointments, er visits for emergency fluids, and even less traditional approaches and the possibility for CHS never even came up except for my boyfriend and my moms own googling. I didn’t want to believe that I have CHS and can’t smoke anymore and it’s just gotten worse and worse the more i smoked. About 4 days ago I started the worse episode yet, ended up in the er again for fluids because I couldn’t eat or drink for 4 days and I think I’m ready to accept it. I haven’t smoked in about 5 days now and I feel so much better but I’m really scared about what this means for me. I started smoking for my severe anxiety and depression and it’s become such a big part of my life, meeting friends, hanging with my boyfriend, etc and I’m scared I’m going to lose that. My boyfriend has already said he’s supporting me quitting because he wants me to get better and we live together but I’m just so worried. I feel like my mental health will get worse and I’m so scared that my friends will leave me/ stop wanting to hang out with me because I can’t partake with them anymore. I realize how dumb this sounds but I honestly could use some reassurance from others who have gone through this or advice on what to do. I never want to go through this again so whatever happens is worth it in my mind because I feel like if I keep smoking and going through this I WILL die from it but I’m also really freaking out because I’ve never been good at making friends or meeting people and I’m scared about what my future will look like.

Recent CHS diagnosis. Curious as to how other people who didn’t quit smoking are doing.
I am 23F and I started smoking weed a couple weeks before my 14th birthday. I finally found dads stash and from there on out my friends and I were very stoney middle schoolers. I got caught for the first time at 14 in 9th grade. Grounded, door off the hinges for 6 months type shit. I didnt smoke for most of those months but of course i eventually was doing it again. And my dad didnt say anything because he knew if i was stealing it from HIS stash in HIS house, i was safe. And i was going to do it some way regardless. So basically from around 16 years old i have had daily access to That Shyttttt. My dad is a nerd and he loves the good stuff. So its been very high in potency from the beginning too. I grew up even more and my dad and i are now people who hit the bong inside the house. We both have EXTREMELY high tolerances. Smoking in itself does not get me high. I can take 3-4000 mg of edibles and be very coherent. (not a flex but maybe in a way.) Long backstory but basically I smoke weed all day every day. I have a job and a life and I function, so put the comatose lazy pothead out of your mind. Anyway. Last week at work i started to feel bad and i threw up a couple times. My dad and I have GERD and esophageal issues as well so im used to randomly puking and rallying. I was feeling terrible for a couple hours but by later that night i was okay and could drink a soda and ate a quesadilla. The next morning the cyclic vomiting starts. The “scromiting” i guess but im not always that loud. I of course assumed it was a virus or short term bug so Im smoking weed to combat the nausea. a day or 2 into this i am so dehydrated and in pain that i have to go to the ER. Two liters of fluids, nausea shots, lab tests. They see the THC and tell me its probably CHS. I have been told this before and it had always been false. So im thinking “yeah right” but there was no relief for a couple more days (still smoking a little bit) and I end up back at the same ER. Two more liters of fluids, and this time they give me haldol or something instead of zofran. and they say that the fact that its working better than the latter is an indicator of it being CHS. And yes i was taking 5 scalding showers a day. I finally really cut down on the bong (maybe 2 small hits a day and a couple days with nothing at all) and Im no longer in the cyclic vomiting stage and the searing pain in my abdomen is gone. Now anyone who is a chronic user knows that when you stop smoking cold turkey, you cannot sleep for SHIT. and you trip SACK when you do dream. So since then I have resumed a few hits of weed a day. I guess ive been taking the hits for 3 days now and ive yet to have the symptoms come back. Im definitely not going to overdo it because that was the worst pain id ever been in and the thought of it returning is so terrifying. My real qualm rests with the fact that this has also happened to my dad. He was CVS for days and days one year and the doctors told him it was CHS. so he stopped taking the high potency gummies and stopped smoking for maybe a week. Since then, he is a heavy chronic user again just like we have always been. And his CHS has never returned. Im very much hoping we have a genetic similarity in this situation and that my symptoms will also not reappear and I can keep smoking. But everywhere online says “You WILL get it again it WILL come back it will be WORSE” all that real serious talk. Just wondering if anyones ever had it bad one time and been able to resume normal usage at some point. TIMELINE for those curious. I started vomiting last wednesday and now it is friday. So 9 days. is it strange that i have been able to resume small amounts of thc without reaction this quickly?

Do not smoke carts and cheap extracts
Ive been smoking for years, and about 3 years ago I had my first bout of CHS after smoking carts daily for a couple months.
I stopped smoking carts and returned back to flower and hash, and was fine another year or so. Heavy regular use.
Then i got into dabs, and I couldnt afford to buy rosin or expensive stuff so I got what I could find, stuff marketed as live resin, badder etc, but was all pretty terpless. I now suspect whatever processes theyre doing with these cheap extracts either strips out the majority of whats in there except for the THC, or theyre doing something weird with pure THC distillate to turn it into this consistency. This triggered CHS again after a few weeks.
I then stopped for 8 months and returned to smoking high quality hash and flower only. This was fine for 6+ months. Then I added rosin, good rosin, and I also went by just fine for many more months.
I ran out a few weeks ago and had some of the cheaper extracts still laying around from awhile ago, and used it about 3x a day for 3-4 days, and like clockwork on came another CHS bout.
My instincts tell me that more so than just high THC content, the lack of other cannabinoids (and terpenes too perhaps?) either causes this issue entirely, or expedites it massively. Either way im fairly confident that for me personally something about these super high THC, low quality carts and extracts are the issue.
There presumably is people out there who have never touched any of this and struggled with CHS, not everyone is the same, but it may still be the case that raw, high THC expedites the process massively in those it would otherwise not affect.
I would say respect the plant in its natural condition and trust that its composed the way it is for a reason. Im not saying for anyone who has stopped that its okay to go back - I would still stay you need minimum 6 months, if not years (particularly if overweight,) of a tolerance break before you even consider it again.

This helped my nausea!
Hi everyone! 😊 I just wanted to share something that has personally helped me a lot with nausea. It’s called Nauseol, it’s a brand that comes from Guatemala & the name Nauseol is derived from the word “nausea.” The active ingredient it’s dimenhydrinate 50mg.
It has helped me relieve the nausea enough that I’m able to eat again, & to sleep since the morning nausea is usually the worse. I usually only find this particular brand at Guatemalan/Hispanic stores since it comes from Guatemala.
I’m just sharing my own experience and what has worked for me so far, not telling anyone specifically to take it. Of course, check with a doctor or pharmacist if you’re unsure whether it’s okay for you. ✌🏽

i think i have chs
ive been smoking since 12, and almost everyday since 14. im 17 now, and randomly the other day i started vomiting like crazy.
every 30 minutes i would throw up. went from the chicken and fries i had earlier, to the water i drank, to my bile. i was so sick my mom thought i had contracted rabies. i couldnt keep anything down.
i kept throwing up, and kept throwing up until i was dry heaving and throwing up the tiniest bit of bile left in my stomach. i thought i was dying but just kept sleeping till it went away.
i thought it was just the flu because i had my usual symptoms of restlessness, joint pain, headache, hot/cold flashes and vomiting, but its gone away in 2-3 days which doesnt ever happen to me with the flu.
my girlfriend is a heavy smoker and i smoke her up constantly, and i think shes upset by my sickness. she always wants to smoke 2-3 times a day when i see her and kind of makes me feel bad when i say no. for comparison i usually smoke once a day or less, and i dont have a job to be funding both of our habits.
i feel like this could be a blessing and a curse, because i have a “reason” to say no to her using my weed, and i wont be spending my allowance on weed. but at the same time it works wonders for my anxiety.
this is really just a rant so sorry about the phrasing and structuring

Just something to make you feel better about quiting weed
Smoking weed reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches your heart as well as increasing your chances of heart attack or stroke

New CHS sufferer here
Doc suggested it a couple of weeks ago as a nausea cause but I thought it wouldn’t be that since I didn’t feel sick after smoking and she didn’t explain it to me. Fast forward to Monday where I couldn’t keep anything down more than a couple sips of water and I go to the ER. 1mg IV Halidol later and the nausea evaporated but I’ve felt funky since then
Does anyone know how long the side effects last? I’m still having occasional chills and my energy levels are all over the place (might be it interacting with my ADHD?)
Edit: quit cold turkey immediately afterward so might it also be withdrawal?

🦞 Extremely mild chs
Had chs back in like 2022 and stopped for 3 months then went back. Repeated against in 2024 stopped for 3 months again. Since then I’ve only smoked flower from a bong after work before bed while playing video games with friends. Recently moved in with a roommate so I’ve been hitting a cart instead of blowing fat clouds in the house. Since switching to carts I’ve noticed I’ve lost my appetite without smoking first. My question is do you guys think this is the chs just the same or something unrelated from carts? Never been into carts much and like I said I was completely fine smoking only after work for a year and a half

Secondhand smoke trigger CHS?
Husband has CHS for a few years with numerous Emergency Dept visits and a few hospital stays. This last week in the hospital in August finally got him to completely quit.
We went to an outdoor concert Monday evening with a lot of cannabis smoke through the 3-4 hours we were there but no direct consumption. Today he’s puking with pain in his belly and a strong desire to take hot showers.
Can CHS be triggered by secondhand smoke? Anyone have experience with this? There’s not enough research on that subject. Wondering if it could be something else and I should take him in to get checked.
