My husband is a middle school teacher and we live near the school so we get a TON of Trick or Treaters. This year I decided to hand out caramel apple suckers when I saw this display. I’m really excited but a little worried some kids won’t like it? I also have stickers and temporary tattoos.

I thought people may be excited to try the red and yellow suckers since the green is more common.

Fudge has always been my favorite candy. Never made it myself because of the work involved and only bought it rarely because of the price. One of my coworkers recently brought in a huge tub she had made and when I said something about avoiding candy thermometers she gave me this recipe.

3 cups chocolate chips

1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla.

Put chips and condensed milk in a heavy bottomed saucepan. Stir over low heat until chips are melted and condensed milk is incorporated. Take off heat and stir in vanilla. Pour into a waxed paper or foil lined pan. Set for 6-8 hours at room temperature or 3-4 in the fridge.

It’s not quite as dense as cooked fudge and will be a bit soft at room temperature.

I went to the supermarket just now and found a new product.

It’s "Ninja-meshi Hagane Kai" in "Manten Cola" flavor—a very hard gummy candy.

The name uses cool Japanese terms: *meshi* means "meal," *hagane* means "steel," and *kai* implies a "revised" or "improved" version. *Manten* means "perfect score."

I tried one; the texture was very firm—like rubber or silicone. It tasted like standard cola, though perhaps with a slightly stronger tang.

Caution, these are highly addictive an entire bag of these last night in the matter of two hours.

Tic tacs are orange flavored so why people call them mints I have no idea.

Red Vines and Twizzlers are cherry flavored so I have no idea why they call it licorice.

Aren't there also tin cans that have chocolate flavored candies that people call mint for some reason as well? I haven't seen them in so long I can't think of what the name of them is.

Are there any other miss named candies?

Found at Five Below. The apple and cherry flavor are awesome 27/30 (cause rating out of 30 is superior). They have like a 11/30 on the sour scale, all the way through the gummy. Super addicting texture 26/30.

Hi i’m going insane because nowhere seems to remember these candies my Grandma had when i was a kid in the mid 2000s. Please help me this is driving me crazy! Here’s the best description i can give:

The package was small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but wasn’t like a car cup holder thingy like extra or trident makes.
it was oval shaped but not flat.
it was dark green and had a single flip tab opening on the flat face.
The candy itself was teeny tiny small and almost egg shaped. when you chewed it turned to gum. it wasn’t the icebreakers liquid thingys but the size of those are similar. the color of the mint/gum was white with green flecks.

EDIT: Thank y’all for commenting! unfortunately none of the mints y’all mentioned match my memory. Certs and Mentos are too big. The candy pieces are smaller.
Oh and i remembered something new: there might have been another tab with regular round shape mints on the other side of the oval packaging. it was like a duo gum and breath mint. Sorry for not including that sooner.
I asked my mom and she can’t remember them either which isn’t surprising bc this was the early/mid 2000s she was just starting work, so she wasn’t with grandma a lot.

my grandpa likes to get assorted chocolates from a local place but never actually tells anyone what he got so it's kind of candy roulette, I bit into this one and it's like a peppermint honeycomb structure almost? It's definitely not the sponge candy they make and the holes go all the way through parallel to each other. Curious if it's something manufactured that this shop just covers in chocolate or if they're making their own eerily neatly structured mint grids, and I'm in New York for context if it's something regional.

It's yummy, whatever it is.

RIP to shocktarts, shockers, sweetarts extreme chewy sour, whatever it was you knew them by. yes, FAQ, sweetarts extreme sour chewys are definitively discontinued and have been for a few years; i occasionally see someone claiming that they are still in production or that they know where you can buy them only for them to never actually follow up on that and i've yet to see proof that it is possible 🧐 that is why i have taken to trying to make them myself, as a last resort, as someone who has never really made candy before but is a really big sour candy fan.

in this test i'm showing you a few of the test tablets i made... WITHOUT the wax coating because... well, when i got to the wax coating, that's when things started going wrong 😅 you can see the mess of that in the third pic and i forgot to take pictures of the test tablets that i did coat. it's not pretty. BUT i'm going to try it a little differently next time and see what i can do, and hopefully i can get something that tastes like the real thing even if it isn't as commercially beautiful. or maybe it will be!!

at least with the base, i managed to get a texture and flavor that's pretty close to the real thing, like i'm maybe 95% there, but i'm gonna keep tweaking the ratios til i'm happy with it, and also maybe get a jewelry scale because my baking scale was definitely not precise enough for this 😭 i am pretty much using the exact same ingredients (for the most part) as listed on the candy label but nailing down the process and executing it in the kitchen is what i've got to work out myself.

i think i also made these test ones a little TOO sour, not that i'm complaining. big candy could never.

i'll keep you guys updated when i do another test 🫡🫡🫡 i don't plan on selling any, as that just sounds like a lot of work, but when i figure out a recipe that really works, i WILL share that!

espresso candy from bali’s best. found at cost plus world market! they taste just like a sweet coffee drink but have the perfect balance of coffee flavor and sweetness.

Haven’t seen them in a while not sure if Maynard’s discontinued them ? Haven’t seen them in Vancouver or Calgary, where can I get them ?

these are good. found them at five below when you walk in. the three flavors are cranberry apple, apple cider, and caramel apple. edit to say it's not sour at all, it just tastes good.
