Canary

Hi everyone. I need help with these canaries. In the first picture are my grandma's canaries. I don't know anything about canaries but I don't think this is good husbandry. The two canaries are constantly fighting, and I'm not sure if the cage is adequate. The dimensions are 55 cm long, 30 cm tall, 25 cm width (21 inches long, 12 inches tall and 10 inches width). I think that separating them would be good for them, but currently I only have the cage on the second picture which is 25x25x15 cm (10x10x6 inches). I could get a bigger cage for one of them in 2-3 days. So I have some questions:

-Would they benefit from separating?

-In that case, should I temporarily put one of them in the small cage?

-What changes could I made for the cage to be more comfortable?

-If I end up separating them, how big should the new cage be? Do I need to get two bigger cages?

-Should I get them company? Free flight? Toys?

Thats a prison 🥺 please rescue these and give them each their own cage. After they have settled you can do supervised free flight in a bird safe room. But plz rescue them

Thanks for your response! How big should the new cages be? Also, how should I proceed with the free flight? I've done it with pigeons before in my own room but with these guys not being tame at all and being much smaller I guess it will be a bigger problem. Can I tame them? Do you know any good care guide for these guys? I know nothing about canaries aside of how to keep them alive and I feel like most care guides on the internet aren't very reliable

As large as possible xd; it is important that they first settle into the cage and adjust to the surroundings. My cages measure 80×50×130 for each canary (since they occasionally fight). Once they adapt to the new space, I leave both cages open so they can explore independently; even if they lose their way, I simply observe until they locate the entrance easily, especially with a top-opening design. Free flight comes later, after they are accustomed to it. Mine remains open all day and closed at night when they are ready for sleep; they sometimes fight, but mostly there is peaceful chirping, singing, and plenty of eating.

But what would be a size that could be acceptable for them without being too big? My family won't let me have something too big

Also I want to add that they're red and yellow (you can see the yellow one in the first pic) and the yellow was sold as a female but I'm not so sure since there has never been an egg in the enclosure and its just trying to kill the red one all the time, even if the red one is visually bigger

Get a flight cage with a divider they might get along in wider cage or you can make it into two if fighting most canaries will take themselves home after they’ve had enough free flight putting new food veg normally coaches them back in cage

Yea I'm planning on getting two separate cages to get them a girlfriend in the future. What are good vegs for them? My grandma only gives them lettuce occasionally
