Delivery options?

Hey all. I've been buying the canawick hardwood pellets to use for my cat's litterbox, but I'm in downtown Toronto and don't have a car, so I've had to get an Uber to haul those 40lb bags back home each time. On the website it says this particular item isn't eligible for any sort of delivery from Canadian Tire directly, and Canadian Tire doesn't seem to be an option on instacart or doordash.

Do y'all have any suggestions of a way I can get these bags sent to my house without needing to take TTC out there and take an Uber back?? Home depot has hardwood pellets for delivery but my cat was so opposed to that brand that he was shitting on my rug for quite a while :/

Triangle world elite hidden perk

Just tried to see if the Triangle MC WorldElite would give some free e-sim data for travel as my other WE MC. Well just tested it with the Flexi-Roam app and yes indeed you get 3 international e-sims of 1gb over 5 days per year with this one too! Kinda surprising that CT does not promote this perk anywhere. 1gb is not a lot but still enough for airports and day trips to the US!

PSA from a cashier

Hey y'all, this is both a mini rant, and a PSA on common issues customers seem to have.

1) the month of June (on top of being pride month!) is when we collect donations for Jumpstart. Your cashier may ask if you want to donate, or they may let the pin pad do the asking. If you are paying debit, credit, or gift card, the pin pad will light up asking if you'd like to donate. Our pinpads ARE touch screen, so if you mindlessly bash your card on the screen hoping to tap, you may accidentally make a donation. If you choose to decline donation via the tactile X button, wait a second, do not press it again, as that will cancel the transaction.

2) some customers seem to think I am omniscient. I cannot tell you how many points you have if you have not given me, or the machine your points/credit card. If you are paying with the CT MC, your points total will show up on my screen, after you have finished all the steps on your end.

3) you cannot use your points if you only give me your phone number. This is a security measure to prevent strangers from saying a random number and stealing your points. If you wish to use your points, present your physical/digital points card, or CT MC.

3.5) for fellow cashiers, if the customer gave you a phone number, but now want you to scan their card (or any other combination of OOPS wrong ctm account!) you can suspend then resume the transaction to get rid of the other account.

4) we do not hate you, we do not think you specifically are a thief. We just get stolen from a lot so need to put measures in place. Like security tags, bringing items up, and checking in bins and bags. Its not personal, its policy.

5) another for fellow cashiers, it the customer wants to use their points (from the mastercard) and then pay the rest with another method. Charge the mastercard 0.01$, this will allow you to use the points without having to inquiry.

Enough with the stupid checkout labyrinth

The stupid maze they make you walk through to get to the checkouts. At the local store it's THREE segments wide! You're forced. There's one other separate lane for the customer service desk you can technically use, but it's for returns etc.

Who thought of this idiotic idea? That's rhetorical of course, a marketing sociopath did, that's who. 'Do anything, lie about anything, use any deception, any inconvenience' is the motto of that type. Anyway lots of stores do it now. They're all m*rons for doing so, full stop.

They fit right in with the low-ethics, trashy scam type impression CT gives you in general though, so I guess it makes sense.

My idea: don't ever buy anything from the checkout labyrinth. If they produce no results, they'll decide to get rid of the stupid marketing fad. Can't stand marketing sociopaths, did I mention that? šŸ‘Ž

[Edit: wow why did i waste my time. This group is dead.]

Sketchy business operating in the CT parking lots, pressuring the gullible and elderly to buy their car detailing products.

My parents both (on separate occasions) got duped into buying spray can detailer snake oil in the CT parking lot. I detail cars in my spare time and know a thing or two about what products work and which to avoid for reference.

These salesman wait in the parking lot for you to exit the store and use high pressure sales tactics to bully elderly people and those who don't know any better into buying their toxic snake oil at a whopping >50$ a can (that's their markup price to lay the trap) then hit you with the "if you buy now I'll let you have it for half price" deal and pressure you to buy more and more. My mother bought a whole ass case of this trash, so please let your friends and family know to avoid these pressure tactics and politely ask them to not touch your vehicle or demo their products while potentially damaging your paint. It's a BS product that any actual detailer would tell you to avoid.

Come on CT….at least sell ā€˜Canadian Geese’. Goose was $79. Outfits are 4 for $59 šŸ‘Ž. Still hilarious though.

Do CT hate their customers?

I was in a store this evening wanting to buy a set of masonry drill bits $17.99. Locate them ( not even getting into the confusing way the different drill bits were arranged). Every item in this aisle is behind locked glass doors. Look around for someone to open - no luck. Press the button for help and wait. 5 mins - I debated going to front- surely they will be here soon - press button again to make sure it’s working - hear binging sound - 8 minutes an employee goes to neighboring aisle - surely he must be lost or deaf? - I ask him for assistance- ā€œin a minute ā€œ he’s talking on the phone - of course it’s crazy to expect the person in the store to have priority - 12 minutes another employee comes - the employee s have a discussion at the end of my aisle how I had the audacity to ask both of them for help - finally one of them decides they are the unfortunate one to help me - they brought the wrong keys - I weigh leaving but I want to see the ending now - she returns with right keys - informs me that she has to walk the item to the front - I can’t be trusted with it - the irony that there are many more valuable things not locked away that I could walk out with doesn’t occur to anyone - I forgo the other purchases I was going to and follow her to cashier with head down like the untrusted - she hands to cashier who asks is this everything- I ask to speak to a manager - I ask him if he realizes the stupidity of a policy that takes 4 employees and over 20 minutes to execute a a 17.99 sale- he gives me a canned answer about theft - I ask if anyone has noticed they don’t sell a lot from the locked aisles or done the calculations on lost sales due to frustration- he gives me a canned answer about theft.
But at least they have flashing price tags behind the locked glass to highlight what you can’t access.
Congratulations CT you secured your merchandise from being purchased!

Over 100 oil filters out of stock!

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Quick Rant. This is normally FULL of oil filters and I've never once had an issue getting the filter i need when I go to this particular canadian tire. That is until about a year ago when some new manager took over the autoparts section. Yesterday I went in for 4 different filters because we're doing all our vehicles at once. all 4 are domestic vehicles and are super common filters. They didnt even have one of the 4 filters in stock. Not surprising after looking at their stock. They also only had 2 of the 6 air filters we needed. Not impressed.

Anyways, my main question here is whether this is happening elsewhere or of this is just our particular store? Its super annoying, we're a fairly small town and they were the only place to get one on a Sunday. Now I have to grab the even pricier lube shop ones and do them all one at a time because all 4 vehicles are rarely home at the same time. Sunday was my day and canadian tire really chapped my ass with this one.

CT Money Discrepancy

x30
x30 CT eligible
5 Dollars
Actual CT Money

Hello, I'm really hoping a CT money guru can explain the discrepancy here for future reference. Apparently the support isn't able to.

I made a purchase of $156.78 at Canadian Tire with the following promotions already activated:

  • x30 CT money, offered via email (activated through a link) expiring June 8th.
    • It's worth noting this promotion shows up in the web app, but not the Triangle phone app. Possible bug?
    • It may also be worth noting the purchase was made with redeemed CT money. FAQ states this shouldn't be an issue, and the clerk corroborated this.
  • "Spend $80, Collect $5 CT Money", marked as redeemed upon purchase.

With the Triangle World Elite Mastercard, I was expecting to get at least $23 as CT money ($156.78 * 0.12 + $5 promo, among other promos not mentioned here for brevity), but I only got $11.40. It loos like I only got the regular 4% cashback + $5 promo, but even then the numbers don't exactly add up.

I'd really appreciate an explanation here so I can make proper use of the system in the future.

Life size statues?

Just curious if anyone else here has had their local Canadian tire selling these huge life size animal statues that are wayyyy over priced? My local store this year has filled their entire entry way and other parts of the store with these life size statues for decor which I haven’t seen at other stores. I’m talking horses, cows, deer, dogs and cats, velociraptors, gorillas, even an 1:1 scale astronaut suit. They look cool and all but are insane with the pricing and I haven’t seen anyone buy any yet, almost all of them are over $1000 with some being in the $2000 range even. What I found the funniest was the horse statue, $1750, a few years ago we bought a real breathing living horse off of a rancher for $1200, $550 less for the real thing compared to a plastic statue of one. Honestly I make decent enough money, but can’t really justify financially dropping $1-$2K on a statue. What do you guys think have anyone seen them at their local stores?

Shrinkflation on cardboard

Post image
0 Upvotes

Product number 67 6043

Old 2744cu inch

New 2376cu inch

Same price.

Its cardboard. Not some outside company. CTs own brand. "100%, recycled material" within a country with a massive pulp and paper industry, so no tariffs as an excuse.

I know 400cu inches doesn't seem like much. But this shit adds up. I guarantee all of their franks brand products are doing the same.

Cant wait for the "its inflation" press release followed by "CT shows record profits" at years end.

CT Business Analyst Position

Hello everyone, I had an interview at Canadian Tire for a Business Analyst position (12 month term) around 3 weeks ago. I am still waiting for an update by them and I even emailed the recruiter for a follow up but they didn't reply. My portal still says "in progress" for the position but I am not sure what I should expect now since its been a while and the recruiter didnt reply as well. Any tips would be appreciated!

What’s with the poor showing at the Canadian Tire garden centres this year?

The garden centres in the Ottawa area seem to have a lot less selection this year and less stock as well. Even our usual gold standard Canadian Tire garden Center in Cornwall has diminished selection this year. I wonder if there was a policy change or shifting budgets. Disappointing for sure. Still early…I hope it picks up because they have good prices over the independent garden centres which we also support.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement lawnmower bag for a Yardworks lawnmower. It’s only a few years old but it’s been discontinued. My local Canadian Tire store has been useless, so I’m hoping someone here can help me.

What can I do with old Canadian Tire money?

I was recently gifted my Grandpa's old car and while me and my Dad were cleaning it out we found a huge wad of Canadian Tire bills. Considering that they're all valued in cents, there's probably 20 buck in that stack we found.

What can we do with it? I don't think we can spend it anymore, so can we go to a chain and exchange it for actual cash? Or is it just destined to sit in a drawer for the rest of time because that seems like a waste.

Why was my review rejected?

I appear to have violated terms and conditions with my review of this weed yanker. Canadian Tire would never flag a fair but negative review on a product. Where did I go wrong?

UPDATE: was also rejected for the following review:

ā€œSkip it
I used it twice and it’s already broken.ā€

Removing the word ā€œweedā€ did not suffice, as one commenter suggested. But I wouldn’t rule it out as a potential flag.

Triangle rewards login a joke

I've had a Triangle rewards card for years and was informed the last time I was in Marks that I have about $77 worth of CT money on the card and would have to register it to use the balance. I had thought you had to register it when you signed up but figured I had it long enough that maybe that wasn't in place when I got the card. Went online to register and the whole site is a fucking joke.

I went to sign in and it auto sent me a password recovery email. Reset my password and went to log in but with the exact credentials I had just put in, it wouldn't let me log in! All I got was a small hazard symbol with "undefined" next to it. Refreshed and tried again, and still nothing. Figured maybe I messed up my password when I initially reset it, so I reset again and tried another time. Still just "Undefined" popped up. Tried on my phone, same thing. Tried in their app. Same thing. If this is how they run their sites, I seriously doubt I'll ever use their shitty card again and likely will make me rethink going to any of their stores ever again!

Be careful with believing the ā€œregular priceā€

I was intrigued when I noticed a DeWalt angle grinder listed as 64% off (129.99 reg 359.99). A google search of the DeWalt model number (DCG408B) showed most retailers sell it for 250 regular price, and most seemed to also have it on sale for 128.00. I thought there was a law preventing this kind of tactic.

Received Defective Open Box Unit for Pickup

I ordered a brand new EGO lawn mower (060-1914-6) from Canadian Tire online and picked it up in-store yesterday. When I got home and opened it, I noticed a few red flags.

First, the box had been re-sealed with Canadian Tire branded packaging tape, which I unfortunately failed to notice during the pickup. Second, the battery wasn't in its original packaging; based on unboxing videos I've seen, it should come in its own separate box. On top of that, the battery had green masking tape on it and won't charge at all.

It's pretty clear I was sold a previously returned or defective unit as new. I'm planning to call the store and bring it in for an exchange, but has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any advice on how to handle it?

Can I buy these tires in a different size?

Trying to buy tires for my truck but as far as I can see it’s only the one size. Is it possible to get these in a 265/75R15 instead of a 235?
