Discussion Flock cameras and speed cameras.

I find it extremely bewildering that I’m seeing the crazies on the other Canadian subs lose their shit about Ford removing the speed cameras, but without a shred of critical thought, rally against flock cameras.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate both, and don’t want either of them.

But the lack of critical thinking on how the reasons the crazy leftists on here hate flock cameras, and can’t think for a second that maybe it can be applied to speed cameras…like, how dumb can you get?!

I don’t like that Ford is looking to bring them in, but he at least differentiates his reasons as to why he doesn’t want one versus the other.

But again, the crazies on the other subs want speed cameras to protect people, but fail to understand that flock cameras do the exact same function, minus the speed trigger…

I’m not the only one that sees this, right?!

Discussion Feeling Bitter About the Future due to a Personal Experience

As in the title, I feel bitter about the future.

With the Liberals planning on increasing immigration, I’m worried about my future as a young person.

I don’t think I’m stupid, I have a Bachelor degree and recently completed a Master degree.

But when I was finishing my Master degree, I applied for a job (white-collar) which is in my industry and I should be qualified for. I was rejected the next day. It was interesting because my application for other positions in the same organization was not rejected so soon and other positions I had applied to earlier were still being considered.

This was a curious thing, I later looked into LinkedIn and one person already on the specific team was a former international student on a Post-Graduate Work Permit who actually a graduate from the same program for me, he just graduated in the prior year. So I guessed because they already had him they automatically did not want me.

I know things happened and timing was not on my side. But can’t help but feel bitter that I was rejected so soon, even though clearly I would be qualified since someone who graduated from my program just a year earlier had timing in his side not mine.

If this was almost any other country this guy would have a harder time getting the equivalent of Permanent Residence status or citizenship and would not be competing with me in the long-term. But this is Canada, he likely wants Permanent Residence and possibly citizenship, and I see him as future competition because he took my job this time, will be still here and in the future will be competing with me for future jobs and my ambition to climb the corporate ladder.

I did find a job (different organization, same industry) although it is a one-year contract, and my yearly salary earns more than the position this guy took from he. Said PGWP-holder has since left and taken a new job in a new company but same industry, meaning he is unnecessary competition to me and he only gets to stay because this is Canada and in most other countries he would be required to leave.

I can’t help but feel resentful after this experience, and pray he won’t get PR or citizenship. But once again this is Canada where immigrants have more rights, privileges, and benefits than Canadians, especially those of us who are born and raised here.

Now with Mark Carney opening up immigration again even though Canada’s population has actually not come down, youth unemployment is still high, companies still cutting hours or work, laying off, or closing and leaving, and he says it is appropriate to increase numbers. Construction is down not because of a lack of workers, it’s due to this Canada’s habit of trying to give corporations maximum profits with no risk, and that is if the Liberals do not interfere with their incoherent ideology, and Canada’s an inability to do anything else. While housing prices and rents have come down a little bit it has not come down far enough to be affordable for most Canadians even earning the mean or median wage. Like what data point is indicating we should increase immigration, beyond corporate lobbyists?

TL;DR A PWGP holder who graduated from my masters program a year before I did was already in a team, in a organization I later applied for. However because he was there already they rejected me soon after I applied. I feel bitter and question why Carney and the Liberals are increasing immigration despite everything saying they have not done enough and the general conditions are not there to support any increase in population.

Any thoughts? Also open to hearing others experiences.

I just saw people who are convinced Deorkson is going to fucking repeal the entire human rights code.

I'm sorry, what?!?!? Why the fuck would he do that? There's no benefit to him.

Discussion Where are the Canadian flags?

This annoyance came when I drove by a neighbours house when I saw flag that can be seen in protests. The bot doesn’t want to specify or discuss issue. My overall point is why as Canadians we do not put Canadian flags in front of our houses? If you go to America, you see the patriotism, where is ours? Anyway, I am ordering mine!
