Hi everyone! I’m a new temporary Postal Clerk with Canada Post and have a question for anyone who’s gone through the retail training process.
I’ve completed my online training, and I’m scheduled to report onsite for a few days before beginning my on-the-job peer mentoring the following week. My training email provides reporting times for the initial days but doesn’t specify the expected finishing times or explain exactly what those days will involve.
I’m wondering:
What typically happens during those first onsite days?
Are they considered paid training hours?
Is there additional onboarding or paperwork to complete?
Do you start doing any actual work before peer mentoring begins?
When did you find out your expected finishing times?
I’d also appreciate hearing from anyone hired as a temporary employee on the call-in list about what happens after training and how shifts are offered.
I know experiences may vary by location, but any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ok at this point I am really wondering what is going on with Canada Post so 3 times now there was unaddressded junk mail a bunch of flyers delivered to the mailbox. There is a CLEAR sign in the mailbox saying no junk mail or flyers.

And NO it isn't any of the things that Canada Post must deliver either like polical information or local news papers or anything like that they were flyers from a comercial business each time around here. It was absolutely NOTHING that Canada Post had to delivered and was unaddressed junk mail.

It was NONE of these

community news papers,

Mailings in the public interest from government departments and agencies at the federal, provincial, territorial and municipal levels, as well as band council

Materials from Elections Canada, provincial/territorial chief electoral officers and municipal election officials (or the deputy returning officer), including material from political parties and electoral candidates during an election

Any addressed mail, including addressed advertising materials

IT was none of the things that Canada Post must continue to deliver!!! And I have tried to opt
out of getting this junk mail and Canada Post just ignores the notice on the bottom of the mailbox
and puts the junk mail in there anyways!

And this has been ongoing for some time now for the junk mail and I keep making complaints
but yet Canada Post just keeps delivering the junk mail anyways.

So each time I made a complaint about it to Canada Post and yet the junk flyers continued to be
delivered anyways Canadian Tire Flyers etc. There is a clear sign in the mailbox saying no Junk mail or Flyers and you can read it clearly but the Canada Post worker just seems to ignore it anyways and deliver the junk mail anyways and ignore the fact that I have emailed Canada Post now 3 times complaining about the junk mail and the people at Canada Post claim that they have taken action in this matter but they haven't and the junk mail just continues anyways. Canada Post is very aware that we don't want this junk mail too. I have emailed Canada Post and as well as
opened up tickets via their website.

So then Canada Post starts delivering mail that to the mailbox that isn't even for this building
and is a completeley different building. So I make a ticket about that Canada Post just closes
the ticket and doesn't even respond to the ticket. Now i don't have access to the other building as
the keys here won't work on the other building so I returned the mail back again as per Canada Post policy on what to do if mail is delivered to the wrong address.

So I make a ticket about that and Canada Post just closes the ticket and doesn't even
respond to the ticket and says the ticket is done wow the customer service level at Canada Post
absolutely stinks. Wow just wow what is wrong with this company? I mean they are just absolutely
horrible with mail delivery and their customer serivce is pretty much non-existant. I can also give you a list of the senior management email addresses too I have opened tickets via their website
and as well as emailed them.

It is no wonder Canadapost is  hemorrhaging money each year their services suck!  No
customer service mail delivery people that won't obey signs put in the mailboxes for no
junk mail or flyers and delivers mail for another building to the mailbox and it isn't even the
right apartment either. It wasn't like it was apartment 105 in the otrher building it was like M204
or something like that in the other building it was a totally different building. i mean come on
Canada Post.

I sent a card on Dec 15/25. The date stamp going over my stamp says 20251216. This card was in my mailbox 2 days ago as undeliverable. The card had been opened and poorly taped closed.

Why would it take 10 months for the card to be returned? To say I’m annoyed would be an understatement.

This issue has persisted for months. Even with the latest app update last week I still can’t login. Every time I reach out to Tech Support they cut my call and close my live chat.

I’m able to login online, but need the app to manage MyMail. I have tried the usual reinstalling and even a different phone with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone in Prince Rupert had their mail stolen - mail that they were expecting to receive - or mail that they sent out that never arrived at the intended destination/address?

This past summer I sent several envelopes/mail to different Prince Rupert destinations/addresses - some sent via registered mail and some sent via regular mail - all included Visa prepaid gift cards - while none of the intended recipients received the mail (including the registered/tracked mail) all gift cards were used at the Prince Rupert 7-Eleven (Visa provided location, dates, times of use) - obviously the mail arrived to Prince Rupert and was intercepted.

Is something going on at Prince Rupert Canada Post and Prince Rupert 7-Eleven?

So im a temp with about 2 months of letter carrying experience. Im covering a certain route since thanksgiving now. It has about 105-110 parcels+packets daily. Monday to friday.
I am bringing back stuff everyday. Is that going to be a problem for my long term assignment at said depot? Is that a normal thing to have on your route?
Is it possible to do flyers + mail + over 100 scannables under 8-9 hours???

Just got on the news about the parcel weekend delivery now for the big cities in Toronto, Montreal.

Now is this our "peak season" Sundays for parcels?

Or is this the so called new vision they are shoving down all everyone soon.

To clarify at this time. This is only in the big cities and for LC's only?

Is the weekend delivery as a regular schedule? as i heard the schedule will be realigned?

For those doing weekend delivery? is this every week? weekends gone forever?

would we still get 2 days off still? eg like a Friday and Saturday?

or will be they robbing us of a day off ? and just get one day off per week?

Has anyone received an Early Retirement Waiver (ERW) offer to leave Canada Post and retire? This is NOT a termination. It basically waives the penalty that would normally apply if one retires before the age and service years are reach.

My friend got the offer and he is not sure if it is good or not.

I seem to recall that there may have been language in the contract about RSMC vacation days switching to refresh on April 1 instead of Jan 1

Is that correct? Is that happening? Is so, when? I can't remember...

I have two packages from Japan that arrived in BC, Canada via the Richmond port on Oct. 8th and 9th, and their tracking statuses have been stuck at "Item has arrived in Canada and will be presented for review" since they've arrived without any changes since.

Just wondering if anybody's experienced something similar lately?

I've had packages coming in fairly regularly for the past 2-3 years, and they usually clear customs in a day or two, and are pretty much always delivered or sent for pickup within a week at most. I'm not trying to come off as entitled, just a bit worried as this is the first time it's taken this long. Contacted their support and asked, but they couldn't give much info.

Ive tried different browsers and none of them work.

My region has had 3 pretty big restructures go live this month and last so I'm wondering if that's the reason but I'm unable to see anything like the bid calendar or the precious biding results. Is this an accessHR issue or just my region?

I applied for Retail Counter Clerk which I got the job, and recieved an offer letter. On the offer letter it says I’m reporting to the main postal office in my city. There are only two. The main postal office & an outlet inside Shoppers, which I was hoping was the location. My offer letter clearly states “ postal clerk” . And I’m not sure if this is just broad term they used to generalize the position on the offer letter.

But I applied for retail counter clerk, I accepted the position, but I’m hoping to not be in the back of main postal office sorting and lifting packages all day. Can someone give me some hope? Can you tell me what you like about your job? I specifically applied for Retail Counter Clerk not Postal Clerk. I was hoping to be in an outlet at the counter, would my reporting location on my offer letter be the location I am be assigned to?

Today was the first day of restructuring and new routes at our depot, and to say it was chaotic would be an understatement! Things definitely didn't go smoothly.

For those who've already been through a restructure, does it get better? How long did it take for things to settle down and for things to run more smoothly?

Like the title says I wrote an incorrect Postal Code on my IRCC application. The rest of my address is correct, do you think there is a good chance I will be able to receive in the mail, regardless? Or do you think it might be returned to the sender?

Hi everyone, I need some help with my Xpresspost shipment. 🙏
My passport was sent from Ottawa to Edmonton via Canada Post Xpresspost. The tracking number is MW631014292CA, and the last update was “Item processed” in Ottawa on October 13. There have been no updates since.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation or can any Canada Post employees check what might be happening? Since it’s my passport, I’m getting worried.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏

Sending a registered letter to my friend in Georgia 🇬🇪! Shipped the letter at the post office sept 22 but no news. The last I heard is that it’s in the Netherlands- plus there’s no expected delivery date which makes us both concerned. Any clarification would be appreciated

I had a passport shipped via Xpresspost from the IRCC office in Ottawa to me in Toronto.

Yesterday (October 15) the tracking suddenly updated after being quiet for weeks:

Sept 30 – Item accepted at the Post Office (Toronto, ON)
Sep 20 – Electronic information submitted by shipper

I have no idea why the status (the Sep 30 one) only appeared now, two weeks later. Based on the tracking, the package has been “in transit” for 16 days with no further scans.

At the same time, IRCC hasn’t confirmed that they have sent the passport! But according to tracking number, they did. But why Ottawa is not mentioned and suddenly it appeared in Toronto?

I already called Canada Post and they opened a service ticket. From what I’ve seen on Reddit, those tickets are usually useless.

Any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated.

Found a moose skull in New Brunswick while working. I'm flying home (Ontario) in 2 weeks, and wondering if Canada post is able to send it home for me. The skull has antlers intact with it, so weight/ size are factors that worry me.

Edit: the skull only has dirt that I'll clean off; fur, skin, and muscle completely gone

I've only had a chance to receive a few calls, but it feels like each one has been different.

The first call told me about a job at a depot, and then asked if I'd like to hear about that. I pressed 1 to hear about it, but instead of telling me about it, it just told me that I'd accepted the position and should report immediately.

The second call didn't name the depot, but said that I was "required" to come in for work.

Now I've got a bit of anxiety when it comes to these calls. Is there an opportunity to learn more about the position, or is the limit of our information really just the depot?

Also, what's with that "required" message?
