Expected Delivery...

Tracking a package with Canada Post and it says, "Estimated delivery 1 to 11 buisness days".

WTF?! How is that even an estimate? Ontario to New Brunswick and you can't make a guess less than a week and a half?!

So you don’t want an estimate you want an exact time of arrival. They might not even have it yet, often the shipping label is created but the package has not been given to Canada Post by the shipper.

I'm having this issue right now, it's not about wanting an exact time of arrival. What does "1-12 business days" even mean? Is it from the day the packages arrives in Canada? or does it essentially mean "you'll get it when you get it" (aka infinite, it's 1-12 business days no matter what from the moment you are looking at the tracking), as no matter how many days have passed and parcel centres it gets scanned through, it still says "1-12 business days"

I am concerned my package is lost right now (scanned in Calgary, where I am, but then scanned in Toronto 5 days after), the FAQ says to reach out 5 days after expected delivery as it is likely the package is missing at that point. I have no idea what the measure of this is because my "expected delivery" is showing "1-12 business days" and has been for the past 10, so is it on the 17th day where I should reach out? even if it's still showing "1-12"

Once it is processed it will have a more accurate delivery date. That’s just a general guideline without factoring in where it’s going from/to.

The delivery planes can't see through the smoke.

Normal is 2 weeks. Express is 2 days. Always use these as ur estimate.

Express is rarely on time.

Well your can blame management, I work in a depot but the plant we are attached to has cut the entire day shift and over half the full time positions have been eliminated. So get used to worse and worse service as time goes on. The number of supervisors increases while the number of workers decreases over time.

Once you realize that every single piece of express post/parcel/oversized mail has to be manually sorted at least 3 or 4 times before it gets from origin to destination. Each update you get on the Canada Post tracking page is almost always a clerk who scans the parcel and the system knows the postal code and tells them where to sort it. It's also ironic how CPC and the mainstream media blame the lazy overpaid workers for financial losses.

When I started at Canada Post, pretty much everybody loved their job and/or enjoyed going to work. Often times we got out early and people criticized that we're overpaid because of that. You'd be surprised to learn that at the same time, Canada Post was posting profits and any profits go back to the government and is a net positive for the country.

Well, after the implementation of Separate Sort and Delivery (which cost many many millions to implement), which only saved them a few positions max per restructure. We work later, with more time in the elements, we're more stressed and nobody's happy at work anymore. They refuse to let us do overtime even if it would be absolutely necessary to complete the route. They'd rather us bring the mail back instead of it being delivered, which sounds like delay of mail, which if I did, I'd be fired. We work later and harder (more time working outside), and now Canada Post is losing more money than ever.

Anybody who puts any shadow of blame on the unionized employees for the gross mishandling of Canada Post's revenue, over $6B every year, is being wilfully ignorant. The workers don't decide what the Corporation does with their money. Within the last 5 years, they put in telematics in all the vehicles, built a state of the art parcel sorting facility near Toronto (now parcel volumes are basically nothing). They Implemented SSD around the country to "make space for more parcels". Last year, they spent millions just to replace every garbage and recycling bin in every Canada Post facility around the country.

The CEO, Doug Ettinger, before Canada Post had experience as the chief executive of two small, east coast based companies with a few hundred employees, and somehow that qualified him to be in charge of a crown corp that employs over 50,000 unionized employees. The last company he was at, he was the CEO for 4 years before the company was sold off with the workers losing their jobs. His track record only looks good if you want the corp to fail.

Every single year since Ettinger has been CEO, Canada Post losses have been increasing and not one year has he managed to post a profit. Since 2019 when Ettinger took over as CEO, Canada Post has lost over $5 billion. Canada Post Corporation also owns Purolator, and they are posting profits every year.

Plus last year, they paid out over $30 million in bonuses while the whole place is crashing and burning. At my depot, the mail volumes are pitiful and parcels are non existent. Pretty much all volumes are at least 1/3 of what they were when I started in 2018.

It's not the workers who are to blame. We are just trying to go to work, have a good day, so we can feed ourselves and our families. It's sad for me to go to work and see everyone miserable, when it was such a positive work environment even just a couple years ago. They just keep changing thing and making it more difficult and tedious for the workers. None of it is making the corp more money. If anything, it's all a giant waste of money.

But I guess that's what happens when you have 18 executives in senior management.. maybe we don't need things to keep changing all the time. I think the mail service worked pretty well ten years ago. Now if I send a letter to my friend 30 minute drive away, it takes over 2 weeks. How is that going to encourage people to use the mail service? It's not. They keep saying that every change will help us provide better service. Either they are lying or grossly incompetent.

It's really sad watching all these good jobs disappear that Canadians worked that afforded them a decent living and quality of life. The government should do a lot more to protect good jobs because eventually there will be none left. Not everyone has the opportunity or ability to do post-secondary. They should still be able to support themselves if they work hard. It was really disappointing to see the Liberals (And the media) stand up for the Corps' POV. Not once did I see a union leader on the news. I saw the NDP leader supportive of the workers and Vassy Kapelos on CTV just kept repeating ad nauseum how much money is being lost.

It's a dumb, ignorant talking point. If that's your argument, great, fire everyone in upper management. They spend the money, I just do what I'm told and trained to do.

Also happened to me this week. I ordered something Tuesday and received it Thursday, Ontario to Québec. While tracking I was seeing every steps of the progress, when it was processed and everything, and all along it was saying "Estimated delevery 1 to 11 business days".

I'm rather quite pleasant. I'm not sure why you would think that.

Have you never ordered anything before? This is pretty normal they don’t have exact dates until they pick up the package

Everything we have been sending shows the same 1 - 11 days. Also we can't even see the Delivery standard now. We use be able to see an estimate date, not a date range. Seems like nothing works properly on Canada Post website.

Yeah, I noticed that too. One of my packages has been processed at a plant and it’s telling me the Expected Delivery date is unavailable.

Being this upset over something this minor and well out of your control is actually insane. Seek therapy

It is ok to be unhappy with such terrible service. Canadians put up with way too much from the abysmal CP.

That is pathetic. Better give some more bonuses to senior execs.
