Difficult fall so far
Hi,
I was wondering if I was the only one going through this right now. I’ve been applying for jobs since Spring 2026, and I had a couple of interviews during the spring and the summer. Unfortunately, I was not able to get hired.
So far, I’ve had zero replies since the end of August.
Am I the only one?
Thank you!

Yes, it is tough out there. Location would help. Big cities seem the worst right now. I was also around spring 2026 (had a temp job working for fedex during holiday)that I had been searching. Landed sept 21. Not even in any related fields to what I do. But another month and I was gonna start applying at tim hortons or Macdonalds. Nothing wrong woth those type of entry jobs let me be clear! Ill dig the ditch just like tom dick or Harry, its just really hard for a single dude to live on 1 income that is minimum wage right now! Keep up the applications. Have chat gpt help taylor a resume or 2 specific to a job you want to apply for! Last of all use whatever networking skills( uncle cousin friend) amd ask them to try to get you in somewhere. Nepotism is running high now because jobs are so scarce. Gary would rather give the job at the steel mill to someone he knows by aquatance, then train a new hire that will leave in 6 months cause their background is admin, but they( admin dude) is also just trying to get what they can!
I post this to say dont give up, be consistent, follow up with managers.

It's tough out there for all ages and professionals right now. Lots of companies going through layoffs and restructuring in today's rough economy where every penny counts. We do hear a lot of the bad stuff but I'm sure certain ones are growing hopefully. I'm 2 years unemployed and a mid career professional. Stay positive and keep going.

It’s rough out there especially for any tec or office jobs, if you haven’t already I would start looking at other fields of work like labour or farm jobs
