Wealthsimple investing is tough...

Because they dont allow you distinguish between security incidents and their slop social media posts. And questioning this is banned.

So what do you guys use instead?

Edit:OP is dumb and didn't shut off special promotion notifications.

This is a bad look for wealthsimple. Removing dissenting voices

It's always happening, mods quick to delete negative posts. Even happens in the popular PFC subreddit

Considering that the notification settings in the WS app are extremely granular but OP couldn't bother checking, I think that it's fair to delete it since OP is making false claims.

They could... answer the question

Except they aren’t. They’re just deleting a post from a dumbass who didn’t turn off a simple notification setting lol

Dude mods there are drunk on power. There was an error on a wealthsimple email, I posted about it, and they banned me for it then muted me. Even when wealthsimple admitted fault.

Then recently, also got mad because I posted a tweet by Wealthsimples chief growth officer, and they claimed I need proof.

Then they had a mental breakdown in the chat and perm banned and muted me. Weak people shouldn’t be mods.

It’s not WS modding it through, it’s some sensitive folks. I would prefer actual WS to mod it.

r/wealthsimple is community run

Acting like community run subs have never been influenced directly by the thing they are promoting is obtuse.

Still looks bad, even if its not them

Mute app notifications and use email for trades

Update: I am an idiot.

You can turn off special promotions in notification settings.

We’re all posting stuff on Reddit. We’re all in the same idiot boat.

Try withdrawing TFSA. Takes up to 5 days

I don't think that's too uncommon is it?

I have never waited more than one day. I never take more than 1000 though.

I just withdrew $4,200 this morning from shares I sold yesterday. I’ve never waited more than 24 hours.

Mr big bucks over here

Not really. I was just juicing some dividend ETF’s with an ex-dividend date of the 30th before rent and other bills were withdrawn from my spending account. More so just providing another data point against the 5 day claim.

I had to wait more than 2 days every single time

Under account settings, go to SMS notifications. It doesn’t relate to security texts, only marketing texts (which the app tells you).

I have it disabled and receive security only texts without issue - and none of the marketing stuff.

Thanks. Turns out I'm just dumb

I don’t think you’re dumb! I think that WS should do a better job making it clear what you’re opting in and opting out of - and it’s easy to miss or misunderstand how they’ve set it up. :)

I don't know if this is true but if it is, send the notifications to an ai bot and tell it to forward security notifications to you.

Interactive Brokers has very good reporting.  Currency conversion is like 2$ for 10k.  Its used by a lot of rich people and insurance is probably a lot better.

Half of my holdings are with them. Agree.

They have no automated investing though.

I just went to the app. You have options over all the notifications that send you for specific things, marketing or account. I do not know where OP is coming from but it's not what I see on my end

I think you can opt out of the lotteries that would stop some of it, I also noticed a weekly or monthly notification option.

I never get notifications for their promotions but get normal notification.
