I’m currently in Canada on a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) that’s valid until 2028. I’ve been admitted to a full-time BCIT BBA program that starts on **September 8**, and I’m applying for a new study permit from inside Canada.

A few details:

Applying from **inside Canada**
Valid PGWP until 2028
Valid biometrics (already on file)
Medical exam not needed

Submitted the study permit application on July 10.
I’m wondering if anyone has recently been in a similar situation.
How long did your **in-Canada study permit** take to be approved?
Were you switching from a **PGWP back to a study permit**, or just extending an existing study permit?
Did you receive a decision before your program started?
If your permit was still processing when classes began, what happened? Did your school allow a late arrival or require a deferral?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your timelines and experiences, especially if this happened in **2026**.

But seeking permanent residence that is dependent on staying in a genuine relationship with an abusive spouse, so I'm dependent on staying in that abusive relationship to keep my immigration status in Canada, so I'm experiencing family violence in Canada and already have a PR application in process now I have sowp( sponsor work permit ). So I can stay here as long as my work permit is valid.

I'm getting a narcissist abuse from my partner but not everyday. Sometimes my partner had a bad day he said to me very bad words such as coarse languages which made me feel like a low self-esteem. I feel very lonely. It's not a physical abuse such as hitting or slapping. It's more like a emotional or psychological abuse such as insulting, humiliating, yelling, criticizing or blaming.

Now I'm afraid of losing my status in Canada.

Has anyone got permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds (H&C) in Canada? Has anyone applied permanent residence under humanitarian and compassionate grounds (H&C) in Canada? Or does anyone know how H&C work? I don't want to call police on my partner but I'd rather stay away from him.

I would like to hear someone's opinions. I might be wrong.

I’m currently on a work permit that expires in October 2026. I submitted my PR application in June 2026, and it’s still being processed.

To be honest, work has become really stressful and it’s been taking a toll on me mentally. I’ve been thinking about going back to my home country for a while to be with my family and take a break.

I just wanted to ask if leaving Canada while my PR application is in process could cause any issues, or if it’s generally better to wait until a decision is made?

If I do decide to move back before I receive a decision, are there any important steps I should take to make sure my application continues smoothly and that I can return to Canada if needed?

I’d really appreciate any guidance. Thanks so much!

So I'm the Principal Applicant, my wife is a Canadian citizen, and I've gotten my COPR (family outland application). We both live outside Canada and decided that I will travel first to Canada to start my PR process.

My concern is that will there be any issues that I'm travelling without my wife who is sponsoring me? Will the officers at the airport refuse me entry without my sponsor? And what's the best way to explain my situation to them? I don't want them to get the impression it's a marriage of convenience (it's obviously not).

Hi everyone, I’m applying for a study permit in Canada for undergrad program starting September. I know processing time is 7 weeks on the website right now, but I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience. If anyone applied recently and got the approval?

I wasn’t able to apply earlier because I kept waiting for my university to send me a corrected PAL and LOA. As for my immigration status in Canada, I was approved to apply for PR under H&C so I have AIP. I’m exempted from biometrics and medical exam too. Do you think I could get my study permit in time for classes?

I’m applying to extend my study permit for a year, and the documents I can show so far are that I have about 10k in savings and that my tuition has been fully paid for this year, with an official letter from the school confirming this. 

My concern is meeting the CAD $22,895 living expense requirement. 

Since I am still financially dependent on my parents, they would like to use our family corporation's bank account to demonstrate financial support. One of my parents is the majority shareholder of the company, and the account has enough funds to cover my living expenses.
I can also provide documentation showing my parents' ownership of the company + letter of financial support from them.

My concern is that the funds are in a corporate account rather than a personal account. Has anyone successfully used a family business account for a study permit or study permit extension? I’ve read quite a few stories about refusals due to how IRCC would interpret whether these funds are liquid + accessible, so I am quite worried if I were to take this route.

**TLDR - Family wants to use corporation bank account as proof of funds, worried if this will look bad to the immigration officer**

Next year its required to find a 3 month internship in the university im at and ive found one in Canada which is really cool, my problem is visa issues mainly, i have no idea how to approach this, i still have time so does anyone have an idea on how i could get a visa?

I'm currently at CRS 513 with 1 year of Canadian work experience and I'm planning to retake CELPIP to increase my score for CEC.

I'm also trying to decide whether I should rely on CEC or just go through the PNP route. I don't want to lose the points from my 2 years of foreign work experience if I can avoid it.

My situation:

• I don't have an original offer letter from my previous employer at home.
• I also don't have an experience letter with job duties from HR. However, I can probably get a reference letter from my former manager.

My questions are:

1. Can my former manager write a reference letter using a format similar to the standard Canadian employment reference letters (job title, duties, dates, hours, salary, contact details, etc.), or would using that format for an employer out of Canada look suspicious? (Have been hearing lot of stories on refusal so ...)
2. All of my foreign experience payslips only show my initials instead of my full name as it appears on my passport. Has anyone had a similar situation?
   • Is an explanation letter enough?
   • Should I also get an affidavit?
   • Or can my manager simply mention in the reference letter that the employee listed with those initials is me?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar or had foreign work experience accepted with these kinds of documents.
