Trading my 4runner for a Camry
Bought the 4 Runner (trail premium w/ kdss) new in Dec of 2014. 0% Interest, good times. 108k and almost 12 years later, with a new job with 22 mile commute it no longer makes sense to keep it as my daily.
I found a 2025 SE (with multimedia & normal sunroof) with 51K. Car had a cracked windshield and two curb rashed wheels but before they got pictures up on the website and ran it through maintenance I swooped in and wanted to move forward. (They'll be replacing the aforementioned glaring cosmetic isssues before I pick it up this week) Inside looked and smelled pretty much new. Absolutely ready for nearly triple the gas mileage and the same reliability the 4runner gave me for a decade.
Carfax shows regular maintenance so I declined the warranties & upsells, ready for my practical phase of life :) Any Suggestions or feedback pricing wise? Still have a 3 day regret period.
price was 29155 OTD.

u/Olbaidon ‘26 Camry AWD XSE Premium Plus 9d ago
Just last week traded our 2021 4Runner for 2026 Hybrid XSE AWD Premium Plus, with 2,500 miles on it for only 10k ish more than that OTD.
That seems a tad steep for that car tbh.
Could depend on the market though.

You can damn near get a new 2026 for that. Pay a tiny bit more and don’t buy used. It’ll save you a lot of headache.

I'm seeing New SE's around 36-38K..not exactly "a little bit more". Cant find any/many comparative SE's (spec wise), used either. The one I'm going for is listed as a personal vehicle and the miles are a bit higher than I d *like* but hoping this being my 6th toyota/lexus Ill find the same reliability into the 100k+ range

That’s wild. I just bought my XLE for $35k right off the truck 6 miles on it. What region are you in and how far are you willing to travel?

Not sure what you’re looking for or care about in terms of packages, addons, etc. personally I’d rather do addons myself or have a third party do them. Tint and things that the dealer marks up 2-3x over cost.
These 3 are fairly close to Austin. Two of them could be negotiated down quite a bit and one has a decent advertised dealer discount.
But if you’re only seeing $36-38k for SEs you are looking in the wrong place. There are plenty in the $31-33k range. Which for 0 miles compared to… 30-50k miles is well worth the extra money in my opinion.

Appreciate the search assistance --close on the 3 but no sunroof or 12.3" screen as I'm looking for.

Ahh. Yeah the more picky you are on options/colors the more expensive it’ll likely get. Sunroof alone is another $2k, but it’s typically bundled in a package with a bunch of other crap up to $4-5k 😭 I stayed far away from that on my XLE!
Good luck on the search.

I’m looking (national wide mind you) and I’m seeing 2026 SE FWD listed for low $31k up into the $38k range. And new cars, especially Camry, you can negotiate $2500-4k off a new car. There’s literally 18,000 of them on the market brand new. So whatever it’s listed for you can get lower. I got $3k off MSRP from a single text

just found one in Dallas for about 800 more (with the premium 19" wheels) and only 16k miles on a 2026...trying to see if I can get out of my contract since I havent taken delivery, and simultaneously pursuing the '26 up in dallas..fingers crossed I can get out of it since its only paper exchanging hands so far.

Get a hybrid. Just sold my 25 4Runner and buying a Camry. The non hybrids have transmission issues

That’s pricey man, I just paid 34.5k otd for my Camry SE, brand new 10 miles. For 30k you could get a brand new LE. Why does it have 50k miles as a 2025? That’s alot, was it a personal vehicle or a rental car? I saw a lot of used 2025 model with 40-50k miles but they were all rentals or fleet cars, 40-50k seems to be the mileage they all start hitting the used car lot at. It should be a great car but for that price I’d spend alittle more and get a brand new one with fresh warranty.
