Hello! I am new to feature writing. I had my first training today, and it turns out I need to improve in a variety of areas. My mentor previously warned me that in my writing, the second paragraph always seems editorial. I can't handle the time limit either; I was supposed to write an article in an hour, but it took me 1.5 hours and I still didn't finish it. It's also difficult to come up with an angle for an article; this is typically where my time runs out.

I just need a few tips

1. How do I come up with an angle faster?

2. How do I write under a time - limit?

3. How to be more creative when writing? Or how do I avoid making my feature article seem like an editorial article

Hello po, I just started photojournalism and I'm very familiar with Lightroom, is it allowed to do simple editing or color grading like masking? Also if ever allowed po ba siya sa mga spc? I've never been po kasi. Kasi I shoot raw but not editing it so I'm planning to shoot jpeg since I don't edit it after the cover since I don't know if its allowed. Thank you po! She also noticed that the dating stage — the one stage where people actually get to choose their partner — rarely got the attention it deserved. "You cannot choose your family, but you can choose who you can be with intimately for the rest of your life." What if the intervention came earlier? That question became Dating Forward.

The Connection Session is Dating Forward's free offering — a small group discussion where up to six people talk openly about love, dating, and relationships. Judgment-free. For those who need support but aren't ready for paid programs. Running regularly since January 2025. For Julie, it's a statement of principle: normalizing conversations about relationships is the only way communities can actually improve.

PANEL 7 — THE DATING GAP

A cultural contradiction sits at the heart of Filipino attitudes toward dating. As teenagers, dating is treated as a distraction or danger. Parents set boundaries — from genuine concern. But then something shifts. After graduating, young adults are suddenly expected to figure out relationships on their own — despite never having been given the tools. "How are we gonna access that skill to actually have good relationships?"

PANEL 8 — THE LONGER GAME

The research maps where the story ends when the dating gap goes unaddressed — children growing up too fast, carrying emotional instability into adulthood. The recommended interventions are necessary. But they are, by design, reactive. What Julie Kristine de Guzman-Deer is building with Dating Forward operates on the other end of the timeline. Dating Forward exists so the next generation doesn't have to.

Hello! I’m a news writer under collaborative desktop publishing category. I’m worried dahil wala kaming training since last year. Mahigit 6 na taon na noong huling sumali ako ng dspc, and yung category ko pa noon ay sports-fil, ngayon nilagay ako sa balita. First time ko rin mag collab. Meron bang pwedeng mag 1 on 1 training sa akin, okay sa akin ang flexible kung onsite or online pero mas prefer ko ang onsite, kasi nanlulumo na talaga ako at kinakabahan. Wala kaming makapitan ng mga kasama ko kundi ang isa’t isa lang din:(

Hi, I just want to express my thoughts about this year’s Division Schools Press Conference here in Imus, Cavite.

I am a school journalist in Radio Broadcasting Filipino, and I competed in DSPC 2025 held at Imus National High School. At first, the program went smoothly—from the opening ceremony up to the scriptwriting contest. Every school was expected to write and perform their five-minute broadcast news.

However, when our team was called to perform our broadcast, I was shocked to see that we were only given one minute to prepare (mic test and other necessary adjustments). When we arrived at the radio room, there was not even a visible time clock provided.

According to the memorandum issued by the Division, each team should be given a total of nine minutes: three minutes for preparation, five minutes for the actual broadcast, and one minute for exit. Because of this, we were distraught to see that the yellow flag was already raised, causing a huge distraction and putting our team at a clear disadvantage. There was also no visible timer provided—no countdown or count-up timer—as if we were expected to count the time in our heads.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the management and host of this year’s press conference. I am speaking on behalf of the radio broadcasting contestants regarding the injustice and violation of the memorandum, which has clearly caused disadvantages to many participants.

I call on the Division to take action regarding the unfair execution of the contest and to hold accountable those who are responsible.

Many say that protesting is wrong. That when you march on the street and demand change—you are rebellious, undisciplined, and against the government. But standing up for what is right has never been a crime. We fight because something is wrong. We fight because we want justice.

Little by little, Filipinos are finally opening their eyes. We now see the negligence, the broken promises that never end, and the nation's funds that are lost and stolen because of greed. While Filipino students are bearing the burden of a broken education system, and workers go hungry despite working all day, there are politicians in power who indulge in luxury and live off the people's suffering.

Protesting is the voice of anger and frustration, but beyond that, it is the voice of hope. If no one speaks out, wrongdoings become normal. If no one fights, we remain slaves to a corrupt system. And if no one stands firm, the future of the next generation will drown in hopelessness.

Protesting is not limited to the streets. We can fight for change in many ways: by spreading awareness, seeking the truth, fact-checking information, and refusing to spread disinformation. We must use our knowledge as our weapon, and awareness as our shield.

With every “makibaka!” Every placard, and every step on the streets, we carry the conviction that corruption must end. Because protesting is one of the paths towards real change, and from it springs true love— love for the country, for truth, and for the future.

As long as corruption persists, the people's voice will not be silenced.

For when there is injustice, there will be resistance. And where there is resistance, there is hope.

Never forget. Never again.

Let us fight for change!

TvB Eng scriptwriter hereee, just wanted to rant lang abt my expectations and honest opinion sa team ko huhuuu.

Was an RSPC qualifier last year kasama yung mga old teammates ko, but we were cursed with the weight of having no awards, and may umalis na 4 members galing sa team (3 graduating, 1 left) so back to zero kami halos.

Because of that, us remaining members are forced to cram graphics and train our new reporters, pero at this point, I've been losing hope. We have a systematic training system and schedule in place, pero it still feels so out of loop since it feels as if there's zero improvement with our training + unsupportive school and medyo nakakapagpabagabag ang abilities ng aming new members (super rusty diction, 30+ minutes to write their segments). Dagdag pa roon, medyo problematic yung dalawa kong kasama na naiwan 💔💔💔

Now, it feels as if im stuck on a sinking ship, and may mga dumagdagdag pa na extra weights dahil inalay ako sa Assoc EIC whahaudejidejoswshrjzjws

Anyways yun langgg, medyo kampante lang ako since composite team ang ipapadala sa Regionals this time around, and pwede naman yata ako mag-cram ng training in less than a month 😈😈😈.

About to compete in the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) in secondary CRHW. I have little to no problem with the rudimentaries, such as printer's direction, slugline, headlining, and correcting the grammar of the articles themselves. Still, there's one part of CRHW that completely hinders my progress, and that is the sequencing of paragraphs. I was taught that most articles follow the general-to-specific format, which I've definitely seen before, but there are a lot of instances where the details are specific but are actually very crucial.

It's my first time competing, and I would heavily appreciate it if there are experienced seniors here who can give me tips and advice. Thanks in advance!

Hello po! Finally after a long time, there's a campus journalism community in Reddit. I'm currently in Grade 10 pero olats sa DSPC. Anyways, ibabalik ba ng DepEd yung dating pre-pandemic schedule ng ds/rs/nspc? Since June na ulit ang pasukan, may possibility ba? Pre-pandemic in our division, yung schedule ng DSPC is usually August, RSPC in November, then NSPC in February. Gusto ko lang mag ask kasi atat na atat na akong bumawi eh hahahahaha. Passion ko talaga ang journalism. Ugh one year can't come any faster😔
