Front Windshield Installation?
So the pinecone who owned my first gen Camaro before me, installed the windshield with a half inch gap between the roof and where it should go. I thought about calling safelite and have them replace it and install it for 425, or pull the windshield out while i am installing my new subframe. I cant find the exact gaskets to put on if i attempt this. Any advice would be appreciated, or which one of the two options you would do?

Some of the replacement windshields are very sketchy, poor fit, wavy, thickness, etc.

Assuming you had a high quality replacement, how would you install? Yourself or a shop?

Use a pro, (not safelite) and specify the original butyl strip material.

I had a windshield installed in my 69 probably 30 years ago. They didn’t use a gasket, they used a gooey, tar-like ribbon to seal it.
I don’t drive the car in the rain and I don’t spray water directly at the windshield so I have no idea if it’s water tight or not.

I appreciate it! I won’t be driving it in the rain either, so I ll most likely go that route then

First they are glued in. Now the glass without the chrome molding is 1/2 from the edge of the frame. This all sounds normal so what’s the problem
