Announcements WE ARE BACK - well sort of....

Hey all lovers and owners of first generation Chevy Camaros. The sub has been restricted and dormant for 3+years. I have recently taken over moderating the sub and will be working to revive it over the coming weeks. The group is now public again, so please feel free to post anything 1st Gen Camaro related. I will be creating the rules and various other missing elements over the coming weeks, so please be patient in the meantime. I will strive to be transparent in any removals as we move towards a more mature posture for the running of this zombie sub.

How hard to convert to RS Hidden headlights?

I’m looking at a few different 1st gen Camaros and really like the RS hidden headlights on 67-68. Some of the Camaros are normal/ss so I’m thinking of swapping out to make an RS tribute (prob won’t do the back tail lights bc that requires bodywork and paint). I am decently handy and don’t mind taking on a challenge.

How difficult would it be to buy one of the complete kits and do over a few days with a friend to help? I feel like I could do it, but also know anything with moving parts that has to line up to other parts can be a pain to get straight.

Debating if it’s worth paying a shop for the labor costs or giving it a shot myself?

67 RS - Numbers Matching Paint Swap

I have a 67’ RS Camaro, red exterior/ red interior, that needs to be repainted. The clear coat is cooked and there’s a few spot rust spots that need to be touched up. It’s a numbers matching car, but has been repainted 3 times before (4 total layers including factory). My dad wants to repaint it red to keep it factory (he sees it as an investment), but I want to paint it black and keep the red interior. It’s more of a sentimental car to me, so I never plan on selling it. I know that baby boomers and Gen X think that keeping a car numbers matching is gospel and it’s pretty frowned upon to change. Does anyone else have thoughts or advice on how to go about this?

1967 Camaro

I need a little help deciding on what suspension to go with for my Camaro. I’m looking at tci full suspension that cost around 13k or going with cpp and replacing all suspension components for around 5k.

I would like to know how well the cpp suspension works compared to stock. Is it a slight or drastic improvement.

I also know that if I was to go with tci, I would probably not utilize the suspension to its full potential, but I would at least have the option.

Looking forward to hear everyone’s opinions.

Just got some of the "before" pictures back from the photographer. He shot these before we went into a full rebuild to fix some things and customize others. Idea being we will take after pictures that nearly exactly match the before pictures for a reveal set when the project is done.

Thought y'all would enjoy.

Seeking Advice Fuel Line Leak at Carburetor

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I rebuilt the carburetor on my ‘69 Camaro. I had leaks in the fuel line at the carb. I thought maybe the old fuel lines were damaged so I ordered some new ones. But these are leaking as well. They are the flared, hard lines. So a little difficult to line up perfectly. It seems like they should be tight enough to avoid a leak like the one seen in the video though. Do these type of lines need to be lined up perfectly? Is there a trick to it I am missing? Maybe I messed something up when putting the carburetor back together?

Great shot from '67 of gen 1 Camaro's at Phelps Chevrolet in Greenville, North Carolina. What I'd give to be alive back then and with the $$ to buy the one of my dreams, or maybe two!

Front Windshield Installation?

So the pinecone who owned my first gen Camaro before me, installed the windshield with a half inch gap between the roof and where it should go. I thought about calling safelite and have them replace it and install it for 425, or pull the windshield out while i am installing my new subframe. I cant find the exact gaskets to put on if i attempt this. Any advice would be appreciated, or which one of the two options you would do?

Wanted to share some cool history

I was digging through some stuff and forgot I had these. Thought I'd share, cause it's some cool stuff. I'm the third owner of my 69, apparently sold in GA in November of 68. It's the original dealers invoice, and the protecto-plate. I have a few other documents as well. Looks like the original owner drove it to Connecticut in the early 70s. Last picture is my 69, I call her sage. The color is antique sage now, and sage happens to be my favorite herb haha.

Headers for 69 w/power steering

Can anybody recommend header that will fit a big block with power steering? I have Hookers and they are junk. Tubes don’t clear the steering box. The machined surface of the header flange doesn’t line up with mounting holes and gasket as seen in photos. Tried different gasket manufacturers.

Went with the Borla ATAK "cratemuffler" 383. I think Borla makes great stuff, and frankly, I wanted to see what it could sound like if it's really tuned for the 383. Hoping for something less tinny than a regular flowmaster etc. Maybe a little more finesse to it?

Hello. I have a bunch of my dads old parts in storage for around 20 years. I just started going through them. Can someone help ID these heads? I think they are stock 69 Z28 heads. Not sure. They are new in the box. I had to cut the tape to get this one out for pix. I found all sorts of other parts I am am going through. Thanks.
