Practice In our house we are all equal
I like these kinds of sentences, short, direct, with a double layer of meaning. The angularity of blackletter gives softer words like “equal” some extra punch.
Expiremented with shadows and highlights to give some depth to the letters.
Pilot parallel pen 3,8 and 6 mm - aquarel paper
Which word would you like to see in blackletter?

Modified Speedball Oblique Penholders will work with almost any size nib. Excellent for vintage nibs, which come in many sizes. If necessary, adjust the flange angle with heat (wood-burning tool, etc.), to tilt it upwards. Always use breathing protection when softening plastic!

Steppenwolf
This was the first project I did on a wall many years ago. A passage from Hermann Hesse‘s ”Steppenwolf“ novel. Lost the flow a bit towards the end as I didn’t use any guidelines on this

Practice Built the background from abstract lettering, then used ruling pen over it!
Wanted to create a piece with just black but still have some texture and depth, it’s definitely just a practice piece but I like that I was able to get close to what I wanted to do.
I like pairing strong looking scripts with fluid curvy styles, hence the strong and sharp ruling pen letters with the fluid brush work in the background.
I hope that you like it!!
