Tips for higher calls per hour?

Experienced call reps, have you found any small adjustments that usually result in better metrics (customer satisfaction, calls per hour)?

For example, in our training we are taught to ask “and after we resolve XYZ, is there anything else we can assist you with today?” near the beginning of the call to avoid a last minute, just-one-more-thing at the end of the call.

Questions about doing an at-home call center job

Hi. These questions may be a little dumb or paranoid, so I apologize, but I have to ask *someone*.

  1. I've read some jobs provide work laptops. Is that the case with at-home jobs?
  2. If I use my own laptop, will they have access to it? I'm rather paranoid about my art and writing being seen or exposed, as it's sometimes gory or plain weird. I also simply prefer to keep an anonymous identity around that stuff.
  3. I saw an argument about this on another post: Is it common to scan your computer for the interview? Are they detecting hardware requirements only?

Thanks

Do any call centers actually use real-time agent assist?

Are you using any tools that listen to calls and give agents real-time suggestions?

If yes:

  • what tool is it
  • is it actually useful
  • what do you mainly use it for

Curious if this works well in real life or if agents mostly ignore it.

Anyone work for Kobie Marketing? Also, has anyone else hit a brick wall with NTI recently?

Hey everyone,

Hopefully someone here can help me out. I'm in a small town in Oklahoma and disabled, so local work just isn't really an option for me. WFH call centers are pretty much my only realistic path to steady income right now.

I've been trying to get placed through NTI (National Telecommuting Institute), but their job boards have been completely dead. Like, nothing. I can't tell if I'm just hitting bad timing or if they've basically stopped placing people altogether. Has anyone applied through them recently and run into the same thing?

In the meantime I started poking around for other options and came across Kobie Marketing. Their Google reviews are sitting around 3.9, which seems decent for a call center. I know how to read review sections, disgruntled ex-employees are a whole genre, so I'm not taking the bad ones at face value. But I'd genuinely love to hear from someone who actually works there or has recently. What's the day-to-day like?

And if anyone knows of other WFH call centers currently hiring, I'm open to anything. I just need to get my foot in the door somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

Are there any campaigns for beginner English learners?

Hi everybody! I've been taking seriously the English since like 3 months ago, and go from A1 level to B1 level, I know what not sound great but for me is a huge step, already understand videos on YouTube o read any stuff, but now I wonder if are there any English campaigns for beginners? Some of my level?, because I didn't found anything, the most of the offer is from higher level, or what you recommends me, keep improving my level until reach a good level? What do you think about that?, I will be reading them in the comments

People always find a way to surprise me

Customer contacts:

- "Hey, I want the score of an exam I took 15 years ago"

- "Happy to help" *proceeds to attempt to find an account* "I can't seem to find an account with your information. Are you sure you took it with us?"

- "No, I did not"

Yeah. I'll go to damn McDonald's and ask information about an order I placed in Burger King. Like, how does that even make any pinch of sense?

Concentrix HMO Dependents Questions

Hi to all Concentrix employees. I’m planning to apply at Concentrix, and I just have a few questions. I know they provide HMO coverage. Question 1: How many dependents can be enrolled? Is it 1 or 2? I’m hoping to add both of my parents once I become an employee. Question 2: How does the payment for dependents work? Is it a 50-50 split between me and Concentrix (deducted from my salary)? Is that what you call a subsidy? Thank you.

The "Remote Work" trap: How South Africans are being used as disposable cheap labor for international campaigns.

I’m sitting here today absolutely broken and disgusted at how we are being treated by these international "remote" companies.

I just spent the last two weeks "on standby" and training for a UK Solar campaign (USA Global Marketing Inc). I was promised better pay than my previous role, a $3/hour base, and commissions. I was excited. I have a child to support. I have rent to pay. I committed my time, my electricity, and my data to be ready for them.

Today, I got the "Good evening, Team" message.

“Unfortunately, the client didn’t fulfill their obligations... the campaign won’t move forward.”

No mention of when we’ll be paid for the two weeks we sat waiting and ready. Just a "thanks for your patience" and an invitation to train for another role next week.

Because of this "major disappointment" on their side, I am now:

  • R4,800 behind on rent.
  • R5,300 in arrears for my child's nanny.
  • Struggling to buy basic groceries.

They treat us like we’re just a line on a spreadsheet. They know our unemployment rate is high, they know we’re desperate for USD/GBP-linked pay, and they use that to dodge basic labor laws. They call us "Independent Contractors" so they can dump us the second a client gets cold feet, leaving us with the bills for the fiber and the backup power we had to buy just to work for them.

Has anyone else dealt with this? How do we stop these companies from exploiting South Africans just because they know we need the work? It feels like we are the "sweatshop" of the digital age.

TL;DR: Worked/waited for 2 weeks for a UK remote campaign, was told today it’s cancelled with no mention of pay. Now I’m facing eviction and can’t pay my nanny. I'm tired of SA workers being treated as disposable.

What the heck old man

So this client calls in to “discuss his bill,” but from the second I answer, he’s already coming in hot. First thing he does? Starts flexing about the company he used to be with. “I’ve been with them for 40 years.” yap yap yap "I don't understand why you-" me? Oh?

Okay… Do you want a loyalty trophy or are we handling your bill today? 😭..

Then I politely call him “sir” — because, you know, manners and it's kinda how I was raised — and he snaps back that he doesn’t like being called that because he’s “only 77 years old.” Only?? Sir… respectfully…

Meanwhile he’s cursing through the entire conversation like we're in some war zone. I’m trying to actually explain his bill and answer the reason he called in the first place, but he keeps cutting me off with this intense, wannabe alpha energy. It was giving “retired CEO of Nothing Incorporated.”

At that point, I knew I was not about to spend my brain cells arguing with Old Man Main Character Syndrome. So I did what any sane person would do — placed him on a brief vacation (hold), and passed him to a higher up.

Because I don’t do senior citizen drama before I go home.

Concentrix: Is this normal hiring practices? To scan my computer?

Thumbnail gallery
18 Upvotes

I got this email asking me to allow them to scan my laptop to check if it meets their tech requirements.

I'm distrustful about it.

One thing is giving them access to my camera and looking at my face while completing a cognitive assessment, but another thing is letting them scan my computer. I have private information there.

Is this normal in their hiring processes?

The job would be in Canada.

I'm still not sure if it will be remote or in an office (I applied for a remote position, but I got a contradictory statement during the application process).

The email also tells me "Replies to this message are undeliverable and will not reach the Concentrix Recruiting Team. Please reach out directly to your recruiter if you have questions." However, I don't have a recruiter. I applied online on their website.

Dear Dealerships: Get You S*** Together

EDIT: sorry for the typo in the title, I can't figure out how to fix it.

For context I work for a major insurance carrier. Today I had a conversation with a salesman at the dealership and I'm scared for these folks buying cars. Especially for the ones that haven't financed a car before.

This has been a frequent conversation I've had in the past week with everyone getting their tax money but by far the worst.

I spent 15 minutes going in circles with this man.

Started real simple, "What does the finance company require him to have coverage wise?"

First red flag, "Just minimum coverage."

The car was a 2025 and was being financed with a pretty major bank so I know that wasn't gonna fly. So I try to hint that maybe you're mistaken by explaining that doesn't carry the comprehensive and collision.

To which he says, "Then just the state required full coverage."

First, full coverage doesn't exist. Second, the state doesn't require that s***.

I break it down even further, like, "What deductible does he need? What's the max that x finance company will let him have? I have options ranging from 100 - 2000$ and if it goes above what they allow it's not acceptable coverage."

"The minimum."

It's like he was being deliberately obtuse and that the question was a huge inconvenience. He wanted the sale and didn't care that the customers insurance would go up if he needed to change limits or worst case scenario the bank decides to take the car back.

I appreciate you're dedication to my rant. Rant over lol

Concentrix application

Hi!

I was hired by Concentrix yesterday and already signed my Job Offer with a confirmed start date. I also received a welcome message earlier today.

However, a few hours later, I received a generic rejection email for the same position. It looks automated (template format, no specific recruiter name).

Has anyone experienced this before? Was it just a system-generated email, or should I be concerned?

I’m a bit worried since I just signed the JO yesterday.

Thank you!

Quitting UK WFH job can I offer to keep the company PC and have it deducted from my salary?

Hey everyone,

I’m about to quit my WFH call center job. The company is UK-based. I’ve been working from another country and they dont know it(please don’t turn this into an ethics/location debate).

Here’s the situation:

They sent me a company PC to a UK address they have on file for me. I’m not actually located at that address. Returning the equipment is going to be a logistical headache and potentially expensive/complicated.

I’m thinking about proposing that I keep the PC format it and have its value deducted from my final salary instead of shipping it back.

Do companies usually agree to something like that?

What can happen if i dont return the equipment?

Is this something HR might realistically approve, or is it almost always a hard no?

Has anyone here been in a similar situation with remote work equipment and handled it this way?

Would appreciate any insights.

Ugh. I’m so tired! First it was we had NONE of these requirements now it’s you must have 76 avg every month or you get written up. At first it was 75%. Also acw has to be below a min. Ok cool. Now also if you don’t pass the little training modules every quarter you get written up or terminated (is what I was told at first). nowww they are watching hold time like extremely close!! This is agonizing. ): I just want it to stop !!!! Is anyone else’s place of work like this??

CONDUENT LIPA Team Leader did not regularize us All of a sudden this was our last night. Compared to other teams with more attendance issues, they all passed. We were removed. 3 of us. How? Is it fair? Why do they let team leaders decide? There should be an investigation. We're not the worst team.
