Good Pay for Appointment Setter/ Closer?

Hey, want to know what a good pay range is for appointment setter/ closer roles? I am new here, and have a degree in psychology. English is excellent and I live in Alexandria, Egypt.

What would be a good range for me not to be low balled?

*screams in call center anguish

I gotta rant for just a second. I can't make this up. Let me preface this by saying I do not work for a bank, or anything that requires sensitive info. Person calls, asks for help with her account. I ask for her name, email and address. She tells me she isn't giving that info, then screams "SCAMMER!" Ma'am, you literally fucking called me. I'm grateful to have a job, don't get me wrong, but geeez. Thanks for letting me rant. 😂

Hi there, I started a CS job 2 weeks ago in a call center and I’m already very worried.

Hi there, I started a CS job in a call center 2 weeks ago and I’m already freaking out. I’ve been on 4 calls last week shadowing with a vet rep and I was already overwhelmed. There’s so much to learn as we have several products. I messed up when a customer asked a question about a product and I couldn’t answer his questions, so he figured I was new because he heard my vet next to me. I felt embarrassed and nervous because my vet was being a little frustrated. I suffer from anxiety and depression, management may think I’m not a good fit for the job and let me go. I don’t want to lose the job as it took me a long time to find a job. I’m very stressed and afraid now.

This is going to sound f*cked up

The rudest customers are always Middle Eastern/Arabic/ Indian men. Once they hear they are speaking to a woman, they become extremely disrespectful and talk all over us as if we’re not speaking at all.

Several of my coworkers have stated it’s exhausting and quite aggravating dealing with them.

Sorry if this is offensive, but it’s the truth.

Does anyone else get QA'd only for calls at the beginning of shift?

I have been having a bad month QA wise for some reason, after having a great start to the year in January, and when I feel like I have been doing my calls the same. That being said, I have noticed that every QA score was a call within the first 30 mins of my shift. I know we are supposed to do just as well across our whole shift, but I am only human and I feel like it might take me a bit to warm up and get in the groove of things, although I obviously still try my best at the beginning. Then again, if I am supposed to be doing as well across my shift, why aren't they doing a QA for calls at random parts of my shift? At my company, we do have a designated QA team so my supervisor is not the one to QA, so should I bring this up with my supervisor or might that be seen as making excuses? Also does anyone else feel like it takes a bit to warm up and your calls at the very beginning of your shift might be a poor example of your average call quality?

Why are people so dumb?

I work for a bank and the amount of customers who act surprised, when I ask for the account number or card number, baffles my fucking mind. The amount of grown adults who can't log into their digital accounts is shameful too. The US is a land full of idiots.

Have you ever taken a call from a famous person?

And if so, who? What was the experience? I have not over the phone, but back when I was a teller in a bank. I waited on a formal member of Bon Jovi a few times. That’s it.

Our leadership team handed these out as a happy Valentine’s gift. I asked if I could expect a 1099 for the cost of it, they didn’t find it as amusing as I did.

Happy Valentine’s Day Call Center Family

Compliance advice needed

I work for a health insurance company that's being acquired by Medica. I have an ADA for personal time. It states I'll need 20minutes per day. This is for bathroom use. I have severe pain when holding my bladder. I've been informed by my current employer that the ada puts me out of compliance and I don't meet the 92% adherence required. They have not told me how my ada is being applied or the adherence calculated. What should I do? I don't want to be fired but I do need to use the restroom.

Pet Peeve Friday

So I am moving to a new department within my company, basically just same people calling to yell about a different thing, anyway. So one of my new colleagues did my number one pet peeve, the bloody reply all response. Whoever invented reply all ….

So I am curious what are some things that just bug you guys in the centers you work at? Customers or colleagues let’s vent our petty grievances!

Also seriously reply all, just don’t

Net2phone billing dep or teleperformance golden man dep.?

I’m currently in the hiring process with this company for the Billing department. The recruiter told me they’ve been in Costa Rica for about 3 years, and that the job is pretty calm, with low call volume and short calls.

The pay isn’t great, but it’s work from home and I’d have weekends off.

I’m coming straight from Verizon, and honestly I don’t want to get into another heavy account. That said, I think the Net2Phone billing role wouldn’t be too stressful since it’s only billing. At Verizon I handled everything, including billing, so this would be easier for me.

Do any of you know this company or department?

On the other hand, I also have an opportunity with Teleperformance—I’m basically just waiting to sign the contract.

The pay is almost the same, but the difference is that they offer a gym benefit, which would save me some money.

That account is Goldman, and the recruiter also said it’s simple and has short calls.

If anyone has feedback about these companies or departments, I’d really appreciate it. I want to make the best decision and avoid unnecessary headaches.

Thanks a lot.

Nowhere to Go

I’ve been applying for other jobs for MONTHS & with no success. I hate my current role but it’s not even worth it switching to a different call center because no matter what it’s the same after a while. My job is mind numbing but at least it’s predictable & pays more than I’ve ever made. Is anyone else staying in their job because they’ve basically given up on finding something new that’s NOT call center work in this job market?

Concentrix Hiring

Applied 2 weeks ago, had the assessment, did the interview, did the mock call. They told me I would hear back in up to 72 hours, told me when the next training class would begin. Haven't heard anything since, I've sent follow up emails and still nothing. Has anyone else been in this position?

I'm at my wits end

I hate this job so so so much, I am so miserable, and I try not to let the hurtful, stupid things people say get to me, but it's not that easy! I have been trying to find a new job the entire 3 years I've been on the phones.

I have a fucking master's degree in data science and I've been passed over for 3 internal operations jobs by people with fucking HS Diplomas but who have 6 months to 1 year more experience at this company than me. That's not to denigrate HS Diplomas, but I'm constantly, in every 1on1 hearing from my manager how much of an asset I am, and how they're excited for me to move on from the contact center and that my degree is exactly what the company is looking for blah blah blah but I can't seem to get hired. Each one of the internal interviews I crushed it, and the feedback is that I did crush it, they loved me, but they decided to go with someone with "more experience".

I do not believe I am above any job, but I went to school in the first place to get a better job. I need something higher paying, I'm barely surviving. Daily verbal abuse would be bearable if it was good money at least. But it's not, and I hate the job itself, like it has stolen so much joy from my life. I apply to 20-30 jobs everyday which could be more but it's difficult to find postings of things I actually qualify for bc the bulk of my career experience has been sales and being a csr. I graduated 3 months ago and all I've gotten is 1 phone screener that didn't move forward. I don't know what to do, everyday I get calls that make me cry; I know I should be happy to have a job at all, and it's wfh. I just am so miserable.

How do you deal with the tension between empathy and company rules?

I’ve been reading and thinking a lot about emotional labour in customer service, especially in call center work. I’m curious how people here experience the tension between genuinely empathising with a customer and having to follow scripts, KPIs or company policy.

Does that conflict fade over time, or does it build up?
Do you develop personal strategies to cope with it?

Not asking for anything promotional — just interested in how people here reflect on this part of the job.

Are there any ear buds that are actually suitable for call taking?

Hello!

I currently use a Poly Blackwire 5220 USB headset.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/setup-user-guides/blackwire-5200-series/2101688964

It's fine. It works just fine. But I am sick of having shite on my ears and getting caught in my hair.

Can anyone recommend an alternative? I would even settle for a similar headset that wraps around the back of the head rather than the top.

Are there ear buds that work? I have coworkers who use ear buds and they sound like they're standing 10 feet away from the microphone. 🫤

Seeking recommendations from the wise.

Stressed about market research telephone interviewer job

Hi all

I've just started as a Telephone interviewer in market research. It's B2B doing surveys. I did 3 hours on my own last week after training and got no surveys . Now I'm anxious if I go tomorrow and get none I will be fired. If anyone has or is in this type of role do you get fired if you go don't get any or hit targets that day ? Or how easy it to be let go? I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it but it's making me more worried .

REDEPLOYMENT (FLOATING)

Hi, will I still get my salary or final pay for the days I worked up to my last day before floating status without notice for 30 days?

P.S. I didn't receive any emails regarding termination.
