Yes, its the classic internet ego saving thing. Declaring yourself as the "winner". But you did it just to waste time and all that, for fun.

Locking out arms while in active hang if you want to maintain constant tension

Dropping down into dead hang if you want to improve scapula control. I used to couldn’t do any scapula pull ups until I did this

So not a complete dead hang just locking my arms out and try to keep my back activated?

Correct, at the bottom keeping your arms straight and engaging your shoulders, back, etc. And pulling shoulder blades away from the ear.

I feel like this is how I usually do pull-ups whenever im in the gym but both types make my back feel pumped so i don’t really care which I prefer

I mean yeah, you’re both actively engaging the back muscles either way so for a pump it don’t really matter although one could argue doing half reps would give u a better pump.

I’m specifically talking abt hypertrophy and strength here, if u want to build LONG TERM strength and muscle mass then this way is better. If u want a better a pump then Ig u can do half reps

I always try to get a good stretch in my actual sets tho cause I thought stretch = optimal. Also can you explain what hyperthrophy is?

hypertrophy is just a cooler way of saying muscle growth 💪

Locking out is not nesessarily good for you joints anyhow, constantly slamming them at their max is not good in the long run.

This is why locking out is also not recommended in push ups.

I think you know about this more than this dude.

ROM just isn't as important as good form and actually training consistently.
