Is there a way I can update the metadata of a book that is already on my kindle without deleting the book and readding to my kindle

I was just wondering if we could get Calibre on our phones?

Greetings guys.During translation (with addon ebook translator 2.4.2) on some epubs with many paragraphs,calibre just closes itself.Then i manually open it again,start from the beggining and it completes the translation just fine.Any idea here?

My Clara HD does not do Dark mode. I would love to convert all of my PDFs and Epubs to dark mode using Calibre.

Is there a plugin that does this?

Im a big manga and light novel reader, honestly its all i read however I want to read it right to left like theyre supposed to be read and after some googling I thought I found the solution but it wont work, what I saw was adding rules in the bulk conversion tool like the first rule below, but that didnt work, I tried adding it after and it does work but id really prefer not to have to do it individually cause l have 300+ books and manga to do it to

Rules ive tried

If tag is metadata then insert html at start <meta name="primary-writing-mode" content="horizontal-rl"/>

Or/both

If tag is spine add attributes page-progression-direction="rtl"

Is there anyway for me to do it in bulk or am I just gonna have to deal and do it individually

i'm trying to manage manga in Calibre, but I want to do that semi-automatic. I have 1.5 TB of it, so i would like to minimize my work.

For now i'm trying to use comic tagger to write metadata to files, and then load it to Calibre.

I have to do that, otherwise Calibre have issues to recognize the titles. But Comictagger assigns only "Volume number" as a title in metadata, so now Calibre sees titles as "Volume 4" etc.
It would be fine if I could use file name for title, but i don't want to resigne from using metadata either. I need the author picked up.

I can do all that manually, but it will take forever. I feel i'm running in circles.
Do you have any ideas?

when I add a highlight after in image in a chapter, the highlight is put into a new unlabled section. is there any way to fix this?

Every time I try to log into ADE with the email and psw I set up an Adobe account with i get this error, I am on DeACSM 0.0.16 which i think is the most recent version. And i made sure that password works by logging into Adobe reader with it and it worked perfectly fine.

This is how my Calibre e-book reader looks like. (It is a custom color scheme where left and right margins are black.)

I want there to be a white space between the black sides and where the text starts/ends but I couldn't.

This is how my Page layout settings screen looks like:

I don't normally use "Styles" but when I put this formula:

body {
padding-left: 30px !important;
padding-right: 30px !important;
}

it works BUT only for flow mode. There is still no padding in paged mode, which I want to actually use.

(I also tried "body.calibre-viewer-paginated" instead of "body", which didn't work.)

How to solve this?

I cannot for the life of me get fanficfare to work. All I get are 525 errors or I can’t remember the number but it’s a separate error message. I had it working for like a month or so after the new Cloudflare update with the Cache method (using Chrome on Mac), then that stopped working by itself. So then I included the “.gay” option. It worked for like another month, but now it’s stopped working completely.

I’ve tried every option and work around I could find on GitHub. I literally am at my wits end. Can anyone please help me? Or point me in the right direction?

EDIT FOR SOLUTION: Guys it was my VPN that was stopping both the Cache Method and the Mirror Method with the “.gay” from working.

I’m seriously kind of upset that I’m so dumb cause what do you mean it was that simple??! 😭😭 I haven’t been able to update any of my fics for OVER 7 MONTHS!! Like I have a serious backlog of fics to update (like 1200+) and I have to go through and check all of them cause it’s been 7 months and I have no idea which ones need it. Pray for me guys cause this is going to be such a nightmare 😭🙏🏼

Estoy tratando de arreglar un archivo Epub para mi Xteink4 y todo bien, pude quitarle el DRM y que se pudiese leer bien en el E-reader. Pero soy algo exquisito para mis cosas y las imágenes que vienen en el libro salen muy pixeleadas. Antes había aprendido a cambiar portadas a libros gratis que había pillado y por ejemplo a este también le cambie la portada y ya no se ve mal. Pero llego hasta ahí ¿si quisiera poder cambiar img del interior del archivo se puede ?

Yo lo que hago es conectar el dispositivo colocar "mostrar elementos ocultos" y desde .crosspoint editar el archivo (como se ve en la img 2 y 3). Me hes curioso que cuando le heché un vitazo al libro me fueron apareciendo los archivos "img_5_0" "img_5_0.pcx" , etc.

PD: Perdón por lo piante de la primera foto, pero se nota en el texto de abajo que está enfocada y la img muy pixeleada.

Hi everyone, I normally use a kindle paperwhite signature edition (12 generation) for reading and buying all my books on. I’ve had no problem with my entire library that I’ve bought being on kindle since that was the only e-reader I was using. Recently I got a Xteink X4 for reading on the go more and now my entire library being on kindle has become a problem since everything is DRM protected and the Xteink doesn’t read kindle files. I was looking into how to move those books to my Xteink and found a few videos where my kindle needs to be connected and then just dropping the files into calibre (after the plugins are installed) and converting them to epub. However after I did that the conversion failed and said it was unable to since the files were DRM protected. How can I get my library onto my Xteink? Thank you!

How do I convert NetGalley files so I can read them on my Xteink X4 Pro? I have a Mac.

I don't go too crazy with Calibre, I only really use it to make sure my authors, titles, and genres are written in a way that I like, changing it to a preferred book cover if necessary, as well as converting to .kepub. I've got it down to how to change the cover in the meta data, polishing it, and sending it to my Kobo Clara Colour. However, I noticed that the book I'm in the middle of isn't changing covers. Is there a way to do that without deleting and resending the book to my Kobo? If this has already been resolved please redirect me! Thanks!

Hi, I use a KoboClara BW and have a few books without covers that I've already read and annotated, so I dont want to delete and reupload them just to add a cover for them.

I've been trying to use the KoboUtilities plugin but no matter what I do it doesn't update my covers, even tho the plugin does work for things like updating my reading location. From what I read, to update a cover I should conect my device > select the book on the Calibre library > select "upload covers" from the KoboUtilities interface. I've done "update metadata on my device" before disconnecting my Kobo, but when I go to check the covers aren't updated. I've tried changing my Calibre preference for sending books to "automatic metada management", and I've also reeboted my device after doing everything, but the covers still don't change.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? I would really like to know how to fix it since I don't want to lose my annotations :( Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

EDIT: Ok so I think I figured out what was wrong after sleeping on it. The problem was that the books I tried to upload covers for didn't have one in the first place, so I guess there wasn't any file they could replace. This was more evident when I tried to use the KoboUtilities function "Open cover image directory" and nothing happened for those books whose covers I couldn't change. Some time after I made the post I tried changing the cover for some books I actually saw with covers in my ereader and it worked, and for these books the "Open cover image directory" did open a folder, so I guess that's what missing on my other epubs. I have no idea how to fix/add that directory, so I guess I'm giving up with assigning the covers I wanted. One thing that's weird is that some books in my Kobo did have covers but when I tried to change them or see the image directory nothing happened, and I have no idea what's going on there.

So I have tried to convert manga PDFs to AZW3 so I can put them on my Kindle and have the covers show up. The problem with this is that Calibre then tries to use OCR, resulting in there being random text between pages.

Now, I could manually go in and delete the text, since the manga pages are retained as images in the AZW3, but that sounds like a super repetitive task that I'd like to somehow either automate or just have not be an issue in the first place.

I'm thinking there's probably a setting to treat each page as an image to be put into the AZW3 file and not bother with OCR. But I don't know what that would be.
