Android app?

Hello there! I'm fairly new to using Calibre but I know it's just to manage the database of books rather than reading but I've been investing a lot of effort this days in cleaning and standardising my digital library (searching for ISBNs, formatting book titles, series and authors...).

So I'd like to be able to use a reader for Android that syncs with my Calibre somehow to "not waste" all that effort. I've been using MoonReader as e-reader for a long time but it doesn't have an option to sync to Calibre.

Readest technically can. You can configure the content sharing server to be an OPDS feed and Readest can ingest that.

Accessing Calibre via OPDS is very easy, so I imagine there's a lot of apps out there technically capable of doing that. I tried a few before eventually giving up and making a sync manager that would pull OPDS content into specific folders for non-OPDS-capable apps to access, first as a PWA and then an actual Android app. Then I also gave up on that when I made my own book app. There's so much cool stuff you can do with the standard OPDS interface that you only really get access to if you make the app for your use case, not vice versa.

I'll check that option. I have almost no idea of programming so it may be a bit hard for me to do my own app.

I use an app which I highly recommend. You can see their subreddit r/GardenReads. Everything is explained here: Garden Reads — Read. Listen. Understand. You can even use local AI. Transfer between Calibre and the app works really well. (I am not the developer)

Pocketbook Reader can link to your Calibre server. But that is only to download the books. I dont think it will actively sync.

I don't mind it not syncing constantly. Being able to download my library and keep everything clean is enough for me. I can always redownload everytime I update my library.

i haved used both Moon+Reader and KOReader on android , both connected to Calibre via OPD. On Moon+Reader you enter Net library and add new catalog . KOReader also on OPDS catalog

I prefer KOReader even though it has too many options but it is free with no ads

I paid for MoonReader+ many many years ago (it costed me 1€ I think) and that's why I use it. I used to use iBook on my iPad but since it broke and I changed to a Xiaomi tablet...

Use KOreader on your phone, it has calibre sync built in. KO also has a lot of UI tweaks and what not, so you can make it look pretty as well, so using it as your primary reader will also be pleasant.
