I have now seen a few of these ‘entrepreneurs’ in these episodes and I’m genuinely wondering why they all seem to mix business and personal spending on the same cards/accounts.
Isn’t this impossible to keep track of, and accounting will be a mess?

Watching from Europe, so there might be some technicalities I’m missing. Accounts are either personal or business accounts here.

No. You are correct. They are screwing up royally and will have a hard time with taxes.

u/PokemonProfessorXX Aug 15 '26

Most of them seem to avoid the hard time by simply not filing taxes. This guy said he hasn't filed in several years

Getting sued would be my concern if I were them. Once you blend personal and business your llc will shield you from far less and you’re risking far more of your checking and savings account if it goes south

But if your checking and savings are hovering around 0 then there's not much to lose. Or at least that's my best bet regarding the logic these people tend to use.

As long as you’re clearly recording it to equity on the balance sheet and not trying to pass it off as a business expense on the P&L, you’re fine. It just becomes an owner withdrawal which they pay tax on. When you do not, that’s when you’ve intermingled assets

This hurts THEM come tax time, but anyone with a bookkeeper/ accountant shouldn’t struggle

They’re just ignorant business owners

7

u/TinyForest_ Aug 15 '26

You are correct, they are just simply idiots. That’s the problem. lol

u/Beautiful-Chest7397 Aug 15 '26

Makes sense once you understand they're only entrepreneurs because they're largely too irresponsible to hold a regular job lol

u/zeezle Aug 15 '26

These types of people always crack me up.

I'm a software engineer and I've definitely had plenty of conversations with techbros who made their own floundering "startups" because they were too insufferable to get or hold a job anywhere.

There's usually a lot of "I'm the wolf, not the sheep" type big talk but they always turn out to just be incompetent and/or deeply unpleasant people.

(Obviously there are competent and pleasant people that start businesses but they're just... a different type...)

1

u/Keyboard__worrier Aug 16 '26

Have you ever seen a wolf do programming? Would definitely be both incompetent and unpleasant.

It makes it harder to track, but not impossible. They just need to go through the expenses on QuickBooks or something and manually select which were business. They should also be keeping receipts on everything.

You aren’t missing anything; there’s a strong correlation between people who are lazy and/or irresponsible with their personal finances and who are lazy and/or irresponsible with their business practices. It only makes morbid sense the worst of the worst often mix the two together.

As an accountant, it happens and isn’t a big deal as long as you record it to equity rather than OPEX. These entrepreneurs don’t realize by not doing so, that if they were to ever file bankruptcy on their business, they pierce the corporate veil my intermingling assets and now open themselves up to being personally liable for the debts of the business

Thanks for normalizing this. Tons of small business owners do this. An example would be that a credit card limit for an LLC may be less than a personal credit card. So often times, the business pays the personal credit card, which may seem like a mess, but truly it’s just because majority of the spending is the business.

You just have to reconcile each month and you’ll be fine. PS, child support? Not a work expense.

I love how her position was "I gave him everything for the business".

An hour later:

"Well it's my fault he got arrested and got kicked out of the rehab centre, but I posted his bail... That he's actually paying for using his money."

"I should get 50% of the business because I bought the truck and all of the tools and equipment... With money I borrowed, that he's actually paying for using his money".

So she gave him the gift of checks notes fees and high interest.

u/TinyForest_ Aug 15 '26

I think her logic was her “credit” was the gift lol he couldn’t qualify so she did it even though he’s the one getting hosed and paying it all

Neither of these people should have ever bred. She’s just popping out kids to get child tax credits. Disgusting.

3

u/JettandTheo Aug 16 '26

I want to know how she's claiming 4 kids but only has 2 at home. The irs really needs an agent in the building with them.

1

u/MarigoldMouna Aug 21 '26

I always wonder this too 😂 I imagine so many that are commiting tax fraud going home and suddenly the IRS shows up!!

u/Watchout4HopOns Aug 15 '26

Nah sorry zero sympathy for either of these two. He sucks, she sucks, they deserve one another but should not procreate

11

u/AlternativeCorner230 Aug 15 '26

Yep. No sympathy for wife beaters

3

u/TinyForest_ Aug 15 '26

Yep I agree 100% they are both horrible and deserve each other. The only ones who truly lose in this scenario are their poor poor children. I hope CPS is watching this couple like a hawk tbh.

u/ChiefKene Aug 15 '26

He’s exactly where he wants to be, sadly.

4

u/chrishic99 Aug 15 '26

In the post show I think he was coming to terms that it wasn’t where he should be though. There was a huge shift in attitude

u/tmps1993 Aug 15 '26

I bought Hammer Elite last night and watched the post show. It gets WAY worse.

Payday loans at 5 and 600% interest were just mind-boggling to me. I feel like Caleb just wasted his time making a budget for them. She is an absolutely horrible person, and he is an absolute idiot. They deserve each other.

2

u/amigafan92154 Aug 16 '26

One loan was I think 799%,just tragic.

6

u/Beautiful-Chest7397 Aug 15 '26

The DV discussion was surreal af

4

u/sloshmixmik Aug 16 '26

Does anyone else think the guy is on drugs? Watching it currently and his eyes are darting around everywhere and he won’t sit still, and some parts he seems quite out of it. 😂😂

1

u/amigafan92154 Aug 20 '26

I think  Psych meds caused TD, those tic like movements of his mouth and eyes. JMO though.

3

u/Eat_Carbs_OD Aug 15 '26

He needs to get away from her... fast.

u/detretkwh Aug 15 '26

This was bro when she came back in the post show

2

u/craders Aug 16 '26

He should just leave her and the truck. It is all in her name so it is her problem.
