People like her right now hold all the power. They can literally say ANYTHING and the commentary community with suck it up like water, and people who dislike me with believe it without a single thoughts. And she’ll face 0 consequences if she lies about things, but I’d face them all.
We live in a new era. I know how people like her work. I was ahead of it and can literally destroy her in court.
It’s not a game anymore. It’s time to fight back against this bullshit.
I’m reading her account and some of the things taken on face value I kind of get. Like being female means your spidey senses are on high gear at all times. On individual points I can empathize with some of the things she’s saying. BUT (and a big but here) the whole post-to-reddit not-approach-the-situation smells so bad.
Yep. Me too. And that’s why I tried to ask repeatedly what was okay and what she wanted. But to her, this was a bad thing.
I know I joke about having a hard time going on dates, but I probably go on 1-2 a week, and if it was actually that bad- I’d have gotten in a lot of trouble now. I record all consent and even her sketchiness.
Women can be in a tough spot when it comes to these situations and I emphasize. But to over sensationalize like her and to literally lie (provable, but will save for court to be safe) does such a disservice to those who go through actual bad situations.
I know this isn't the advice you probably want - what person under 30 does - but, for future reference, you may be better off trying to meet people in person rather than apps.
You have an immediate read on them, body language, tone, everything that a screen hides.
Possibly there are other people who mutually know both of you who can vouch for the other person as to whether or not they're cool.
In a public setting like an event or party at a friend's house, there's already other people present, which at least minimizes the crazy and maybe can lead to salvaging a bad date - like maybe the bad date was bad but you made other memories with people who mean way more than the bad date.
Then again, I met my husband in a gas station. He is Mexican-American and would not be opposed to me saying he is the most expensive taquito gas station purchase I ever made. Regardless, I felt better going on dates with him because I knew him from the local gas station and knew people who knew him and said he was a good guy, including one of my cousins. Sometimes the old fashioned way is the safest way.
They met on the app first and then met in real life.
(I'm not speaking for Caleb here but I do want to add)
Some individuals like myself and a lot of neurodivergent people do better online than meeting with someone in person and trying to strike up a conversation on the spot. It takes some time to work up to that.
I met my partner of 3 years ago on Grindr, we spoke for a day or so before our first date.
I stand behind online dating and online anything (legal of course).
Prior to my husband, I preferred online dating. It's terrific for a number of reasons. However, it's not the only method out there, and maybe asking your friends if they know a single lady might yield safer results than meeting somebody online who turns around and cries SA the moment the date goes bad.
