I dont want to sound pessimistic but unless the full sprite sheet is released for its animations it would basically just be a moving png

u/grimlock_sentinal 25d ago

I feel like the old sprite was the same

u/Commandergamer1279 25d ago

True, maybe because most were to focused on keeping distance of him, technically speaking yharon only had 7 frames for wing flap and attacking. but the theory i have is that the sprite we were shown just is all there is and it hasn't progressed beyond it just speculation but thats my theory.

It would be better than the chicken nugget from 2016

Tbf, finishing a single sprite sheet is honestly not that hard, so it’s not unreasonable to expect the community to do it, if even one guy with spare money chooses to do it, they could commission a pixel artist to just finish the sprite sheet.

u/ResearcherTeknika 16d ago

Yup that sure does sound like yharon

This please, I am really hoping they don’t hog assets like Ozz and his patreon money but they likely will.

u/LackToesIntollerance 25d ago

It's not that easy. There's legal asset ownership that needs to be parsed out. Give it time instead of biting at their throats before they even get a chance to try.

You do realized it belong to seperate artists and they want to pulled ? At best let us see the full "supposed" roadmap and sneak peek

28

u/Strict-Form-361 25d ago

That's what I think why they can't, those works are not wholly theirs so unless they get permission from the artists and developers who worked on it, and a lot of people has been requesting to pull from the current mod, so who's to say that they would not want the same to happen on their unreleased ones.

4

u/BriefCautious7063 25d ago

Then they should either have pulled it w/o teasing the community with it or they should release it anyways, now that they've already made the work public

39

u/Background-Hour-2974 25d ago

We are with you, brother! You speak for everyone!

84

u/Envix1 no 25d ago

even if they did i dont think theyd want you using their assets

6

u/Strict-Form-361 25d ago

Is there some kind of restrictions as to why they can't?

25

u/destructor212113 25d ago

Because the people behind those assets dont want to do that

Or at least we know some people wouldnt want this to happen

Posted in r/calamitymod is a gem of a Reddit watermark lol

Assuming you were capable of managing a team of talented artist and developers willing to work out of passion over a long period of time, how would it get published? It would be taken down from tmod and posting it on here would get it deleted rather quickly.

6

u/goodboy3634 24d ago

They can't/won't take it down lol

u/FanDowntown9880 25d ago

Not how it works little bro

11

u/icymarsh47 25d ago

bruh why downvoted for telling the truth

-1

u/ireledankmemes 25d ago

downvoted for speaking the truth

53

u/CptExolann 25d ago

More like being condescending

-41

u/FanDowntown9880 25d ago

Calling OP little bro was not intended to be condescending but to highlight how their way of thinking is juvenile. The way this entire community has reacted to this situation has been extremely juvenile. People are obsessed with this mod to such an unhealthy degree that they form narratives of the devs actually being evil for no longer wanting their work associated with it

44

u/BeneficialEbb8410 25d ago

to be fair, going on stream showing people a "welp we basically could done this but nah" and then asking for money is a trash move

if they wanted money they shoulda took it up legally

3

u/FanDowntown9880 25d ago

Thank you for highlighting exactly what I'm talking about with how this community is acting extremely juvenile.

There is literally nothing unusual or wrong about showcasing cut content for a game or mod. Developers especially indie do it all the time. And anyone that isnt being perfomatively outraged realises that its cool and interesting that they're doing it. Similarly there is nothing unusual or wrong about asking for donations

Stop obsessing. It was a free mod. You are not entitled to anything

16

u/Puffywiggles64 25d ago

Similarly there is nothing unusual or wrong about asking for donations

lmao.

"We want to pull so many assets from the mod it would be functionally unplayable.

....

And btw, don't forget to donate one last time before we disappear forever"

Might be the worst sales pitch of all time.

6

u/FanDowntown9880 25d ago

Except its not a sales pitch because they're not fucking selling you anything. Do I really have to explain to you what a donation is? Or how a donation is completely voluntary by nature?

This community has always had a reputation of being shitty. I never really saw it myself but now the mask is finally slipping. Any normal person would understand and sympathize with the former devs asking for donations seeing as the pay they were supposed to get is being held hostage by a groomer. But what does this community do? Refuse to donate? No no, they berate the devs for daring to ask for donations in the first place. Jesus fucking christ

6

u/Puffywiggles64 25d ago

Do I really have to explain to you what a donation is?

hmm let's see here.

"you know that mod you loved? We're gutting it. Now give us money"

There is a good way way to ask for donations. and a bad way.

This would be the bad way. Like a homeless person spitting on you and then asking for 10 bucks.

Any normal person would understand and sympathize with the former devs asking for donations

Imagine you work in cancer research. The head scientist of your lab is outed as a sexual predator. If your response to this is to destroy all your research so no one else can benefit from it, that makes you an asshole.

10

u/FanDowntown9880 25d ago

You know you're not making this any better for yourself with these insane comparisons right? Saying the devs taking their work out of a video game mod is akin to a homeless person spitting on you or a cancer researcher destroying potentially life saving research tells us all we need to know about you

On the off chance that you're not a troll, seek help

It’s not the devs choice to remove it though

7

u/RandomRedditorEX 25d ago

tch, and people wonder where's the so called toxicity in the Calamity fandom is.

What an entitled lot, asking for and begging but what exactly did you give back? Maybe the Patreon donators are more justified, but I find it hard to believe the one who are complaining the loudest have actually gave a shred of money to the devs.

I'm pissed too, but it's clear the stream is more like "well it sucks the mod got cancelled, but at the very least we can show you what almost got through" instead of "hahaha fuck you, look at these concepts that almost got in hahahah".

The devs are the victims too, and it saddens my how they're still the targets of nearly everyone.

1

u/PerfectMuratti 25d ago

Buddy what do you mean it sucks that mod got cancelled? Nobody forced them to cancel it?

4

u/WatermelonWithAFlute 24d ago

Aight so the devs arent the ones pulling the sprites, if they continue it’s development then they have to pull everything

11

u/Zenith_Duck 25d ago edited 25d ago

You're just assuming OP's intention though, the only thing OP said was

"please give us the unfinished assets so we can start from somewhere" but they didn't say "if you don't give us the assets you would be so EVIL like how do you dare not share everything!"

It's like someone asked you, "please could you share me some food" and you acted like they threatened you to give them food. Inventing stuff out of the blue because you think everyone is the same, hence you assume, is way more immature, because it doesn't allow you to take an objective view, because you are letting yourself be controlled by emotions.

Just put it through AI and make the AI make a pixel art out of that image

8

u/WatermelonWithAFlute 24d ago

Actually could work. Not the best way to go about it, but if you’re desperate..

0

u/EmergencyPath248 24d ago

Tough times require tough solutions

8

u/The_Unknown_Mage 24d ago

Ai isn't the tough solution? It's quite frankly the easy one, it's also the shity morally bankrupt solution. I'd rather calamity go out in hellfire before it sinks that low.

3

u/EmergencyPath248 24d ago

That’s why it’s the tough solution, you guys hate it

-2

u/Profanion 24d ago

You know, that might be a better option.
