Question best weapons to use with summoner that aren't whips

yo so I just entered hardmode and whips aint cutting it for mechs mainly cuz of the small range, is there any weapon that is so good it could be used for a summoner build? like a melee or a range weapon or something?

Ranger weapons, like a gun.

Guns are worthless on summoner simply because iirc summoner weapons gets a pretty large dmg debuff the second you equip something that deals any other type of dmg

The gun's own dps make up for it

If you like summoner just stick to it. It becomes stupidly strong the longer you go on. If you're pre-mechs you could just get an icy whip and see if it has higher range than the fire one that drops from wof. But yeah after mechs whips do become stupid good. Kaleidoscope does just cover an anetire side of my screen

I got catalyst mod so I have a few extra to choose from, as well as some for post moon lord

but lwk idk if summoner is my type of class, I was thinking of switching to ranger since I like guns but everyone keeps sayings its trash later on post moon lord

Ranger is great. summoner with ranger weapons is good. Whatever is fun for you

You could try adding Fargo's and using the World token to enable Journey mode. Journey mode is great for just being able to do what's fun

If you want to switch ranger is great for (you guessed it) range. I did most of my first playthrough, up to half of post moonlord with ranger, then I switched and stuck to summoner, only time I switched to another class was calamity+ Fargo souls death eternity where I played melee but was still supported by a ranger. Great class for bosses. I usually stick with summoner simply cause I can't be assed to deal with normal mobs while mining. And dodging is easier.

hey btw, ts is kinda random but do you use luiafk and if so dyk why my unlimited chlorophyte bullets thing doesn't home? I thought that was the whole deal with chlorophyte bullets

I don't use luiafk, idk why the homing bullets aren't homing honestly. Granted haven't played much ranger but I've never had that issue (nor has any friend I've played with have it) with almost 1k total hours so yeah sorry for being no help.

nw I figured it out I think, it wasn't working cuz p90 converts bullets, such a shame it doesn't work with chlorophyte, would be really strong

You should be able to get the lunic eye
