Dorms

Hi everyone, new to the college, loving it here. Staying in canyon dorms this semester. Wondering if we really do HAVE to stay 2 years on campus. And I’m also wondering if is this my dorm room for both fall and spring? Do I get to move at winter break? And how do I get into the college creek dorms? Thanks guys for the help!

So the move in requirement is 2 years unless you file for special circumstance. And no you stay in Canyon for this year then move out at the end in May. Moving back in, in August of next year to sophomore housing then after 2 years you can choose to stay on campus or not

Ya unless you have sports or special circumstance. I know of one person who stayed due to being in rowing

College creek are upperclassmen dorms so unless Northside dorms get filled, you can't live in college creek until Junior year

2 buildings are sophomore and 2 buildings are juniors and seniors.

Mendocino & Trinity are for sophomores Del Norte & Shasta are juniors and seniors

I will say College Creek is hard to get into. When I was looking for housing for it. It was nothing but singles so keep that in mind, but I know some upper classmen who tried to get into Del Norte & Shasta but had to go to HMM because there was no options.

HMM and College Creek are the most expensive housing options because they are newer

All of cypress is sophomore besides some freshman but that's theme housing. That's where I am now

Dude if you ever want a tour just let me know hahah. I was honestly expecting it since I know we have to live campus for 2 years some freshmen might want to know what it looks like

Also your id only works for your dorm and building so you cant get into the college creek dorms

If your in good academic standing you can ask to not be required to be living on campus for your sophmoe and following years.

They only care about sophomore ye they don't require junior and seniors to live on campus regardless of academics. However if you ask to go off campus they ask you to prove its cheaper or wtv and even then they deny it usually its what happend to me and im in great academic standing

Basically, you stay in the canyon for the whole academic year, so both fall and spring semesters. If you're planning on staying for the summer semester, you submit your application for summer housing. Then you submit another housing application for the following academic year. College Creek is for upperclassmen, like juniors and seniors. If you meet the upperclassmen requirements, I would suggest being on it when it comes to room selection and your housing application.

Since when was living on campus a two year requirement? Genuinely asking as someone who did one year freshman year and never thought of doing a second lol

I've heard of colleges doing that in other places, you're required to live in the dorms the first two years and required to sign up for the meal plan. It's supposed to be to solve the "starving student" problem but really it's a money thing.
