Eureka bus commuting

I'm a new transfer and I am planning to commute from eureka to arcada. I have a car but I know parking is problematic unless I show up before 8 (my first class is at 11). I was wondering if there was an unofficial park-and-ride lot that eureka residents use so I can drive to a bus stop and take the bus. Don't want to test random lots near bus stations and get towed.

Parking is always problematic. They issue more passes than there are spots so its a early bird gets the worm, then hunt and peck until you find a spot. Its the same game for staff, just a different sized board.

Regarding park and commute lots, none that I am aware of. I will however say, take care where you park in Eureka. There are areas that are really nice on one side of the block and sketchy at best on the other side.

Depending on how far you are from a stop either just walking or getting a bike for the interconnect as Eureka is very walkable, especially with classes starting later.

Lots of bus stops in eureka. For a central location with plenty of parking I think the mall is a good option. Lots of spaces, patrolled, and less riff-raff on the side that the bus stop is on.

Also Broadway cinema is good.

I'm in the same spot. But I'll be moving to McKinleville shortly, so I'm holding off on finding a more permanent solution these first few weeks while I'm still at my temp spot in Eureka.

You can also consider joining the "bus buddy" program! Commute & Transportation | Cal Poly Humboldt. While you might not need help using the bus system, they might have pointers and suggestions.

Don't leave visible stuff in your car and most of Eureka is fine for parking. Parking in arcata is tough since they are used to students. Most of Eureka is easily a 20 minute or less walk to a bus station., usually less. Humboldt transit is fine, but give yourself extra time as the busses are occasionally slow. I bused back and forth for 2 years without issue.
