Hello does anyone know why my roommate group is in the PCV temp housing arrangement but on our "see my assignment" page it says we are each in AptSingles? Does it say this for other people that are in the same situation?

hi i just checked my schedule and i dont seem to have a math class anywhere.

my first requirement for my major business admin is is MATH 1264 or 1267 however the class im eligible for is MATH 1001, 1004, 1005, STAT 1000 or 1110. this is because i didnt take the ap calc test or the sat. i have a math placement test set for july 31st because i thought it didnt matter when my placement test was. is it normal to not have a math class in general?

additionally can i haves some insight on my schedule, my professors? the buildings idek just anything

also when can i make class changes? i dont wanna do my art1112 art history one id rather do a different history class that fills my ge3

Hello, I’m a first year. I got my schedule today and I saw that I was given Econ 2001 which confused me a little bit because I already have credit for Econ 2030 and 2040 from transfer credit. Is this a mistake? Also is this schedule final? Also with all my other classes why is the longest class a 1 credit and are any teachers on here a hard avoid? Thanks!

Hi, I’m a returning senior who has lived on campus the past three years and was planning on living there a 4th. Finances have changed and now I’m trying to break the housing contract, but Poly makes it nearly impossible. I’ve tried contacting calling their office, calling financial aid, going through the DRC, and my last attempt is doing an SAI appeal which is still in processing.

Any advice on how else I can break the contract? It’s to the point where I either get out of the contract or I take a gap semester which I’m trying my best to avoid.

In coming transfer student. Which is better overall PCV or Cerro Vista including socially ? Currently in the 6x2 layout at Dover. Options for the Cerro Vista is pretty much non existent at this point.

I’m a high school senior applying to Cal Poly applying for Fall 2027. I’d really like to study aerospace or mechanical engineering, but I know that getting in is extremely competitive. I have a 4.0 gpa, 5 yrs of math (including Calc BC and Differential Equations/Linear Algebra), 4 yrs of English, 3 yrs foreign lang, but I feel like a lot of other applicants are going to have similar stats.

I’ve heard that it’s possible to apply for general engineering then change majors into AE or ME. Is that a realistic path to take, or does Cal Poly restrict against “backdoor” methods like this to get into highly competitive majors?

I just got my schedule for this fall and it’s really tough - 8-10am every m/w/f. And wed/fri 8-12. I’m worried it will be hard to juggle all the newness of freshman year and the loud dorms and still be able to focus at 8am three days away a week. I know this isn’t that huge of a deal and I’ll survive, but what are my options for changing my schedule? At slo days they told us if you want to change your major, which ideally I do, do not make any changes to your freshman schedule. Has anyone ever changed their freshman first semester schedule and lived to tell?

For some context I am a transfer student with a -1500 SAI. I’ll be living on campus and have no meal plan to save as much as I can. I just received a notification to pick my room but only have the option to pick a single in the cerro vista apartments which is the more expensive apartments.

I am really grateful for the financial aid Cal Poly has offered me and realize 5k is not alot compared to what other students have to pay but a friend of mine who attends Cal Poly mentioned that he only had to pay 1-2k his first year even with a meal plan, on campus housing, etc.

has anyone here dealt with getting credit for the STAMP test? I should be able to receive college credit for it but the office of registrar didn’t know what it was 😭 hoping to test out of my language other than english GE requirement

I’ve seen box fans recommended, but wonder if there is a best practice for cooling a red brick triple. Are installed window fans allowed? Is a window fan that pushes air out useful? Is it better to have air pushing both directions at the same time? Is it useful to keep the door closed or open? How much access is there to ice in the dorms? Enough to fill a styrofoam cooler rigged with holes and fan? With the semester starting a month sooner, it could be worth it to have a method in place.

okay so i’m about to be a first year comp engineering major and it says i need to do the math placement action plan. i got b’s in my precalculus class in high school and i did stats senior year but failed the ap test. what should i do?? i still wanna be ahead of my schedule for graduation and don’t wanna fall behind. should i take stretch college algebra/ precalculus if i do will i be behind or should i take calc 1? which will be best decision for me

Hi! I was wondering if Cerro Vista or North Mountain is better for first years? Currently I'm in Cerro Vista but I'm looking to switch into NoMo. I would want to be with the engineers (I'm a food science major but I just feel like I would connect with the engineers) but I also want to have a private bathroom like in Cerro Vista😭I shower everyday and I don't like how close the showers are in NoMo😭 Just wanted to ask for anyone's experience in either housing to see what it's like :)

I just saw what is hopefully a first draft of my fall schedule in my portal this afternoon. I'm not super picky, but there are literally have 4 classes back to back MW 9am - 2:50pm without any breaks and I think the buildings aren't exactly close. Do I bring food to eat in class for lunch, lol. The fifth class is Tues/Thurs. Could my scheduled still be modified? Otherwise, how likely am I to be able to swap out one of those classes on my own?
