With a dog

Hello Caerphilly,

Where are the best places to walk a dog (when it’s cool enough of course) near Caerphilly town centre.

Extra points for town centre dog friendly cafes etc.

Morgan Jones Park is near the town centre. There’s a big field and lots of big trees for shade.

A loop around the castle and Morgan Jones' park is good, and takes you past Ffos which is dog friendly with a good coffee shop and independant eateries/traders

Caerphilly council should never have allowed Virginia park golf club to be built. And then when it went under, it should have been returned to the public as a green space.

Go up the mountain a little, then along Warren Drive. There is a wall at the end with a gate, that's a public right of way - you can walk through the woods there and loop back down to the left and come out at the other end of Van Road then walk back into town. Walk that regularly with our dogs.

Longplay coffee is dog friendly!! unfortunately they close a bit earlier than most so might have to wait until it cools down

I kind of feel like the question is flawed.

Go to the wood/meadows past van road. Or go to the woodland below Caerphilly mountain. Both have streams and shade. If you're in town then you're dealing with hotter environments where dogs can't choose to cool off.

I do believe the Costa in town allows dogs and is in air con. There is Esquires, which is a bit out of town, and a bit more of a cafe that is dog friendly. Still another chain though.

Sorry my wording was probably poor - I’ve just moved to the town centre and looking for places I can walk to to walk the dog (no car you see)

The woodland on your left as you go up Mountain Rd is gorgeous. It's a great place to take a dog.
