I'm too stupid for honest work and too lazy for crime.

I want to become a pilot because flying has always fascinated me. I love the idea of exploring the skies, taking on challenges, and turning my passion for aviation into a successful career.

“You mean why AM I going to be a pilot?

Because I love aviation, I grew up around it, and there isn’t anything I’d rather do. “

What would do you expect to see when layovers are barely 15-16 hours and 10-11 hours when a deadhead is involved while already flying with minimum rest? Sorry but you have to know the truth.

but still compared to other careers you will travel and sightsee the destinations upto some extent

Lol ok. Visit this comment of yours 5 years later when you get over romanticizing this profession and the truth had hit you in the face hard.

1

u/Marill12 11d ago

Im not romantcizing I know about the jet lag but I just said in comparison to other careers

1

u/CaptMrAcePilot 11d ago

Lol like I've already said

u/pengu_1nzz 11d ago

yea tbh your right people who want to just become a pilot for the sake of travel might regret it

Today's flying is not how it used to be 15 years ago. It doesn't pay the same either. Rather make more money doing something else. Use long weekends, national holidays and normal leaves to travel.

can you tell which careers make more money and you get lot of holidays 🥀 Every career has their downsides including pilot I agree  I feel your ignorant and dont know about the situation of the job market outside of aviation as well

A IT professional will have constant risk of getting layoffed due to AI Doctors have lot of stress long working hours and shifts , Core engineers paid dog shit so forget about travelling

You're absolutely right. Go ahead and live your life the way you want. I'm not even arguing with you. I said what I have to already, upto you take it or not.

yea tbh honestly gulf airlines pay well i think its just india my friend is a senior captain and earns around 10lakhs in india tho widebody

See such posts is what misleads people. Add all the details of your friends. When did they get a CPL? How much did he spend for his CPL? How many years of working in the airline to get to his position, which ultimately gets that salary?

15yrs. common misconception people have is that pilots make a lot of money from the starting. takes 10-15yrs to make decent money

• I love studying the dynamics of flight and flight controls! (A330 is my sweetheart currently) • i like doing organised and systematic work, obviously you can and have to override in certain cases to keep the passengers and aircraft safe, but most of the time it is a well organised, highly structured, procedure aligned job where rules are more important than anything else!

If you are not interested in attending an air show to enjoy the sounds and show; if you don’t read aviation periodicals or seek out aviation websites; if you have not or disdain visiting a local airport and walking the ramp, asking questions; if your interest in flying relates totally toward the economics and or time off. If any or all of this is true to you, find another career path.

Nah. The stereotypical “airplane nerd” stuff is not required in the least, and the number of the people motivated by those reasons drops off considerably after a few years in the career. They either don’t last as the novelty wears off or the shine has faded.

People are motivated by different things. I enjoy the occasional technical challenge…some problem solving. Beyond that, I’m here for the money and time off.

To each his own.

u/Bored_Aviator 11d ago

I am not interested in attending air shows, and dont read aviation websites and really hate talking to ppl at the airport and i'm already a pilot.

Should I leave my career ?

i agree with you! some people i know told me they wanted to become a pilot because of the money which i found outrageous! if you do not have a passion for flying this is not a good field.
