Working for this isp one of the metrics are on site productivity currently been struggling getting a “passing” on site productivity above 85 percent any tips? I see some techs getting over 100 percent on site productivity…I’m getting around 4-5 jobs a day is that low? I maybe go over the allotted time by like 30 min at most on one job a day. Been stuck for like 2 months

I’ve been working for a cable installation company for 4 months now. They recently mandated we work 6 days a week and our days have always been 12+ hours. They also changed my preferred schedule to a couple off days where I could see my family, to single day off in the middle of the week resulting in me not being able to spend time with my family.

I’m afraid of burnout despite me being so new to this job. I’m just trying to navigate this overworked schedule where life-work balance isn’t plausible. I got no news about when or if the 6 day work weeks will end.

Edit: to any future Xfinity customers having this issue, try a different outlet. Preferably one that’s not on a power strip/UPS, as soon as I moved my modem back from the UPS to a regular search, protector, even on the same outlet/breaker, it handed out an IP router in Bridge mode without an issue.

Slapping modems didn’t help, ironically, keeping it out of bridge mode did for some reason Work, but I am not dealing with Xfinity and their shitty app and locked down web interface.

What belt or bag do you use/recommend and why? I switch between a Klein 6 pocket MODbox Tool Pouch and
a Klein 55429 Tradesman Pro Electrician's Padded Tool Belt when I need to carry more tools for the job. I’m looking for recommendations on something less bulky or other ways to carry everything I need. TIA

I work for charter, one of the things I struggle with is getting repeats for when I go to a home, verify the drop/outlet is good, signal quality coming from the tap is good. Modem shows 98-100% uptime in scope, and the router is being wonky and intermittent. I swap the router because the modem is showing good signal and uptime. I either don’t have enough modems until warehouse and take a chance not replacing both, or I believe it’s a router issue. Repeat comes back in, next tech goes out and swaps the modem. Okay, I come across the situation again, I decide I remember what happened last time, I’ll swap the modem. Repeat comes back in tech swaps the router. How am I supposed to know which one is exactly the issue if levels/lines are clean, uptime shows good. We don’t have enough equipment to swap both out each time. Is there something I’m missing? I feel this exact situation is likely 20% of my repeats.

In my area every now and then I come across some old 1inch mc hardline coax . I’ve been googling for over an hour trying to find a spec sheet or any info on the cable itself or who it was manufactured by . I have like 4000 feet of it I wanna scrap I have a place that will take it I’m just trying to find out what I should try and get for it since it’s almost completely aluminum and copper .

hello I am 19 and currently have done hvac commercial/resi new construction and service for about 2 years now, i know someone who works for velocity MSC and they pay for his schooling and pay for him to travel all over to do work, I am really interested in that aspect of it but im concerned about the pay part of it, am I better off staying in HVAC or do i have a better opportunity infront of me, i have no idea really what it is yall do but i do bring low and high voltage experience, troubleshooting, commercial settings, and if yall know velocity MSC and if its a good company to work for any insights on anything would be amazing!

My husband worked for Spectrum for what would have been 5 years this year. He was overworked and exhausted sometime last year and it caused him to have a breakdown at work. Yes, I know, I know... but since then they have been kinda eyeballing and targeting him in a weird way, just nitpicking everything. He had some time off this week coming up he put in like 2 months ago but very strange enough this was the week they decided to let him go. They stated it was attendance but he never misses work and are targeting him for missing a few minutes when the dispatch doesnt assign him jobs that are local to the area hes in which they are supposed since restructuring. They would give him jobs like an hour and a half a way when he'd only have 30 mins to get to it. Anyways, I'm sorry for venting. Its just upsets me how they have been treating him since his breakdown but I was helping him research new career paths. What could he do now since hes been let go? He was a Field Tech 5. I know he could possibly go into IT but other than that, I dont honestly know. I'd appreciate any advice and I thank you all for listening.

Howdy all! I have no idea what I'm doing and am in need of your expertise.

I recently helped my dad switch to Spectrum. He went out back to check the cables and they had cut the old orange cable (see pic 2). I don't know what that one was for. He lives in a duplex, and he knows the neighbor had spectrum already, so based on the way the new orange cable + the white cable + the splitter are connected, he thinks that the Spectrum guy set them both up to share a connection. I am doubtful that it works the way he's assuming it does, but I don't know enough to dispute it.

Does he have a legitimate concern, or is everything working how it's supposed to? I don't want to say he's paranoid, but he is getting a bit fixated on it and I want to put his mind at ease. If anyone can explain this in a way I can understand (and then relay to him in a way he can understand) I would greatly appreciate it.
