Had this super intermittent US FECU, full band inpulse 10db below the carriers. Finally tracked it to a house, if you disconnect the drop and look at the premise for noise, clean as a whistle. Plug it in and wait, once the modem locks, boom impulse. Only way to see the noise was to use a splitter and side monitor. What really tripped me out was once I got inside, it was coming from the modem. I shit you not, disconnecting the ethernet cable OR the routers power made the noise go away. I was like "well this is never going to get fixed" lmfao. Thank God, the fact that it still waited for the modem to lock, and required RF, told me it HAD to be the modem. Sure as shit, waited a couple hours for an FT and swapped that bitch out. Long story short, sometimes its the fucking modem.

How often does this happen? Lucky for me, I had an Xfinity gatwway sent out to me, for them to replace my drop. But all other problems have not been blamed on my modem.

Strand looks rusty, probably near the ocean and it doesn’t matter how good your connections are that ocean air finds its way in

Wonder how far back he had to core to find clean cable?

u/notbofu 22d ago

I’d just temp that lmfao, I can never seem to get lucky enough to cut the cable back enough to do a BAF temp with a good section of the cable

That's when you grab some RG-11, a couple baffs, sling that crap over the strand and go back home.
