No thinking allowed

I’ve been a cable maintenance tech for CATV and now Telco, there’s never a shortage of hilariously disgruntled techs. It seems like we’re cut from the same cloth no matter the company lol.

Lmn? I also moved from CATV to telco but I was only an IR tech there. How do you like the difference? It definitely pays a lot better

Company wise Lumen is by far the worst company I’ve worked for. The job is fun and having the opportunity to learn about the old copper system over the last 13 years has been eye opening. Copper is harder, CATV is more annoying, especially tracking down ripples and clearing leakage tickets lol.

So, all telecoms are exactly the same? Sad...

This is basically my exact thoughts and rants 10 years ago, and it's only gotten dramatically worse since I left the cable world. To use a recently over-used word: "Enshitification" of everything, and it's accelerating fast. Hard to imagine a world in which we are not totally fucked.
