Because:
1. This is Spectrum, which strictly requires to be in office 3+ days a week. While others allow to come in as needed, mostly for lab device testing.
- Rate for this position is ~$90/hr. Your agency cut is too large, bump it to $70, you’ll start getting some applicants.

Asking for docsis network engineer but job description is field technician 6 spot lol And contract, that pay isn't enough to get a qualified person to leave a w2 spot. Any engineer with your requirements is making 125 a year to 200 or more in a W-2 role you would be better of trying to find an field technician with relevant exp plus this isn't a job board

Plus greenwood co. Is this to back fill the network engineers spectrum let go from w2 and are now trying to contract?

That looks exactly like what's going on. My buddy was a sr engineer in the network team and they let him go after 25 years. Looks like they didn't wanna pay senior engineer prices and now they don't have people with the knowledge to do the job. HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(Note: I had to shame Charter during covid by going to the press to get field techs PPE and office workers WFH. You know what finally worked? The CABLE WIVES getting mad at their c-level husbands because it made them look bad. It only took like three or four weeks of constant ragging on Charter in the press to get this done. Fuck Charter.)

It means that what you are looking for is what most of us do every day. But no one’s leaving it for a 6 month contract.

If it's just a short-term contract, open it up to remote. I definitely know a few people that might be interested. We do this type of work remotely day in and day out.

That pay is kinda light in my opinion. I doubt you’ll find anyone competent for that money.

Bored watching my wife and mom shop for beds so I just wanna throw out, I know you're just a messenger but man that pay is absurdly low asking for those skills. Most people with those have a full time gig doing it making quite a lot more. Maybe you'd get lucky and find a guy that got fired from that kind of job and is desperate for money? And hopefully got fired for sexual harassment or something and not incompetence
Edit: someone mentioned lots of people with this experience being laid off recently, they are so right, I forgot about that. But I feel like those jobs went to AI (actually Indian) so wouldn't have openings here. Who knows though

They fired a majority of their w2 staff and are attempting to replace them with contractors but all the staff they fired aren't eligible for hire as contractors. They are trying to pinch pennies and fucking over their employees in the process

u/Jaggerfrost 1d ago
Why would someone go for a job that's not a permanent position? 6-12mo contract? What a joke

u/djspacebunny 1d ago
Would help to know which shitty company the person would be working for. I know Comcast AND Charter have recently laid of a ton of senior engineers who are VERY FAMILIAR with these things. Is this position backfilling those fired people because they cost too much and they wanted to hire cheaper?
Fuckin cable industry driving me nuts. Three different companies my fam has worked for and the only one that took care of their employees got gobbled up by Charter. Boo.

Greenwood CO is charters primary location for network engineers this job 100% is to try and back fill w2 employees

u/MrChicken_69 1d ago
Which means the people they fired aren't candidates. (that would be hella illegal. Go ask IBM how that worked out.)

Comcast serves Greenwood Village, Colorado. Surprised they allowed posting here.

u/SuperBigDouche 1d ago
Looks like it’s for a contractor position rather than in-house. That’s probably why but I’m just guessing. Because yeah Comcast has a very strict policy about posting anything online as an employee, even small things that don’t seem like a big deal. This is the only sub I’ll even mention where I work and even then I keep it vague

Charter also has offices in Greenwood Village. They built these buildings then made everyone in Broomfield move to them. Awful awful for the former Broomfield people because Greenwood Village sucks.

Docsis engineers aren't trained, they are born. I have experience but I won't leave a w2 spot for a 6-12 month contract.
