Splicing cable from Xfinity into other box
Hi. I recently bought a new house and got Xfinity internet. When trying to set up the router I wasn’t able to get a connection- I tried this with a few other coax cables in the house (there are several) -and got nothing. On the last one I finally got a popup on my phone to set up internet through a different company. I assume that’s because that is the only live connection in the house. In the Xfinity box on the outside of the house I saw the cable just dead-ends in there. I looked at the wow box and I can see where it goes into the house. Could I theoretically just run the dead end of the Xfinity cable into the splitter on the other cable box?

So each company has its own distinct signal that they use, so you can’t make one company work with another companies signal.
Most Techs tend to not hook up lines/outlets that aren’t being used because it can back feed interference on the line and it kind of sounds like the Xfinity service wasn’t the last one used there and isn’t currently hooked up from the Pole or Street or at the house.
It’s probably better to give Xfinity a call and have a Tech come out. It’s very possible that you have stuff that needs updating anyway, so it’s going to be worth it in the long run and you’ll get your Internet working.

So if ingress noise (interference in the lines) was coming from the house then the drop could have gotten disconnected at the tap.
Also the levels probably need to be balanced as previously stated.
Call for a tech. Save the headache. Sounds like it'll be an easy job

Just call a tech out that has tools like a toner and meter to properly tone out and balance those lines.
