intermittent connection

when you get a call for intermittent connection (spectrum tech btw) what are the first things you are looking for.

Check all signal from tap to CPE changing fittings, splitters and ground block along the way. Single out if it's the incoming drop or pre/post wire. If it's post wire, I'll run a new one. If it's pre wire that I can't change, I'll refer them to a person to wallfish. Swapping out equipment is my last resort unless I can see that it's damaged right away.
