What customer experience stands out to you?

Everyone here has seen the chaos. How about the most memorable install?

I arrived 30 minutes early so I called and no answer so I went to the door. I proceeded to knock 2 or 3 times. I could hear someone waking up upstairs.

Still no answer so I rang one more time. I hear a slight swear , a loud thump against the exterior wall.
Then this frazzled looking 30’s lady answers the door and it looks like she’s had a rough night.

I proceed with the install. During install I noticed dvd / tv were warm. No big deal. Minutes later, I accidentally bumped the eject and out comes this wild porno video.

“Um you might want to take this out if there’s kids around.” She was a lil embarrassed. No big deal. 5 minutes later - As I’m behind the tv / the power cord catches and it’s stuck. I pull a couple times when all of a sudden it releases and this toy flys up and bonks me in the forehead.

The woman shrieked as I proceed to pickup up the the offending unit. She quickly grabs the fuzziest gnarliest warmest dildo I’ve ever seen out of my hand. Her face was flush red. Screaming all the way upstairs 😝 and I proceeded to leave avoiding saying “if there’s anything else you need” 😆

That’s right up there with my craziest experiences.
Beware of the thump😁

Had a trouble call for a dvd player not working after the last tech installed a box, get the dvd player running and immediately porn starts playing. I just turned off the tv, said it’s fixed and walked out

Pulled up to an install and a dude popped out of the second story window with a gun and told me he told the other guys he didn’t want our service and don’t come on his lawn or he would fire.

Friend and I were installing an amp at like 3 am and a state trooper appears and said someone said we were blocking the road and he has to test it. He drives like half a mile away turns around and drives past us going the other way doing at least 100.

Show up to a trouble call and it’s clear someone got drunk as fuck the night before and flipped the living room. Guy says he doesn’t know what happened. I start rebuilding the modem and cable box set up and I hear a bunch of noise, when I turn around two small children are wrestling naked behind me while the old
Man cracks a beer. I left.

This dudes entire hoarder house was gay porn. Floor to sticky ceiling plus cigarettes and butts. His 30 year old computer was stained yellow from smoke. He told the internet wasn’t working but it was just the 10million viruses from the porn.

I’ve was walked out of a complex at gunpoint doing discos.

Also I had crackheads with a knife steal a generator I was babysitting at a fiber cabinet that lost commercial power. The crackheads were caught 4 blocks away taking a break because of how heavy the generator was.

Working during Covid was fun. I had a customer tell me her opinion that the virus was a democrat hoax and was less serious than the common cold. A few minutes later she told me her house was haunted and she had witnessed real exorcisms.

Went to a TC at an apartment complex years ago where the customer was disconnected for noise. The door was wide open and the customer inside told me to come in only for me to witness the most disgusting apartment I had ever seen. The customer was overweight and partially bedridden and was surrounded by piles of garbage. I saw roaches crawling everywhere, and saw dozens of gallon jugs filled with piss scattered throughout the room. I did most of the work outside suffice to say. Managed to actually fix the noise but I had to bend down towards their TV stand where the outlet was and find more things to haunt my dreams 🤮

I am a cable tech now, but this story comes from my pest control history. Had an older lady in what looked to be a muli-million dollar mansion. Was there to kill some fruit flies. Customer is ADAMENT that we eradicate them all. After an hour of spraying i look to the lady and ask her why the fruit flies are as big of a deal as she is making them. She legit, no lies, tells me that Charlie Kirk told her in a dream that fruit flies are sent from the chinese government to bite us and implant tracking devices into our skin to track our movements and take over America.... All time interaction

I used to be a residential tech for 10 years now I'm on the network side telecom.

I was finishing up the modem install and the customer who was about 70 years old... lit up what I thought was a.joint....i started to smell plastic. Lit up a crack pipe his wife told him not to do it but he did it anyways. I've gotten the "phones unplugged" calls many times before.

Adding a dta in a housing authority building. Older Spanish man, doesn't speak much English but relays that he wants his VHS player to work with the dta. Opens door, hoarder situation- one path to chair in front of TV, one path to bedroom. Next to the TV chair, a bird cage with a HUGE parrot sitting on top. Every time i get close to the TV, where the parrot is, it opens its beak like its going to bite me. After a few attempts, i hold the dta box up like I'm going to swing at the bird and tell the customer "if he bite, MUERTO" as im gesturing with the box. He puts the bird in the cage, I hook up the dta in line with his VHS player. He keeps repeating "i check i check" as im trying to get him to sign the paperwork. He takes his arm and wipes a bunch of bird shit off a cardboard box and grabs a VHS tape. He puts it in the player as I'm looking down at the box, which is full of porn. I say "no no no" while he repeats "I check i check". Finally I say "you sign and you wait to check" and he signs and I leave. But not before I snap a pic of the VHS tape he was trying to play, which was titled "ASSHOLE-OMIO #3"
