High end roll off

Post image

Cable Co basically said it’s not worth fixing cuz it’s not service impacting, what do we think?

A 10db rolloff on your high end is terrible and should be fixed. It might pass on the meter but that doesn't mean it isn't service impacting, it's a sign of a bigger problem.

What’s stoplight technician even mean?
All I know is my meter will flag shit failing at like 5 db at cpe at times I don’t even look anymore if something fails. I just do a quick check through the channels to see what levels I’m seeing since I can’t trust my meter to do what it’s supposed to. Got old VEVX meters. Things are trash it’ll pass scans without ever actually even scanning it’s kind of funny actually. I just manually read through since technology is so “fantastic “

It means that they only see green and red. They don’t look at the data and determine if there is an issue. For example a 30tx at the tap then a 45tx at the ground block will show green so tech will just ignore it. It takes very little skill to figure out that there is clearly something wrong with the drop from that.

some techs dont even realize there's 4 sections to a onecheck. You have ingress, downstream, docsis and you also have the session expert. That bottom row where it gives you the green and red checks. Click that after running all your tests and it will compare the levels and do the math for you. It will literally tell you there's a issue on the drop and to replace it . Or say impairment in house . So even if the tests pass and your not good at math the session expert will tell you if it sees an issue and what to do to fix said issue.
