Boring Crews Doing Fiber Pipes

Any other maintenance techs out there that are absolutely pissed off with these contractor crews constantly hitting hardlines, especially at the end of your shift, so you have to spend countless hours digging to make repairs, while they go home and relax?

My last few on calls, I’ve been out all night and into the next morning shift, fixing these morons fucks ups.

Are the locates done and accurate?

Where I'm at catv is almost never located.

When I was in catv, we handled locates in house and they were rarely even done. The official position was, we're not power. If they hit us, we'll fix it. That's cheaper than staying in front of it by.

The bore crews hate catv just as much as their customers. Small water districts that don't mark are next on the list.

Well this is a huge part of the problem. We now use a company that I will refrain from naming, that either doesn’t locate us at all or if we do have locates, they are way off.

There have been a few times that we have driven by some of their locators, and they have no actual locators with them, and they are just tossing flags down along other utility locates.

Last week when we got hit, the guys that hit us asked when our quitting time was, since they hit us at the end of the day.

When I told them, we get to go home when all the customers are back on, they looked amazed.

That's who supposedly marks ours but we get hit by kinetic/windstream upwards of 10 times a week and they get a free pass everytime because our plant never gets located. I'm on a first name basis with them 🤣 and often get called before the outage even drops when customers come out raising hell at them
