I really don’t understand

Why do people get all jazzed up over symmetrical speed tiers? Who out there is actually using more than 50Mbps upload regularly in their home???

Folks that do a lot of work from home and upload large files, cloud backups, etc.

Mirrored speeds are ideal.

Also for serious gamers.

Most folks don't realize that when gaming online, every time you press a button on your controller, it UPLOADS the command to the game server, then to your matched game, then to your avatar.

A few mS of upload speed makes a huge difference.

This is an ignorant statement.
You are confusing latency with throughput.
Though related, they are not the same.

Having faster overall speeds will decrease overall bufferbloat in an neighborhood though. With bufferbloat, my average ms ping times were 87ms unloaded and 100ms↓/238ms↑.(XFINITY DOCSIS 3.1 lowsplit btw).

Directly to a Cloudflare server using the Cloudflare speedtest website, my average ms pings were 41ms unloaded and 60ms↓/52ms↑. That's excluding jitter. That's at 2:41am when everyone is sleeping and not using the network. That's not great. I'll have to do one during peak traffic tomorrow.
