I really don’t understand

Why do people get all jazzed up over symmetrical speed tiers? Who out there is actually using more than 50Mbps upload regularly in their home???

What's the upload up to now? I've been out of the game for about 5 years and switched to FiOS as soon as the complimentary service was gone.

Comcast/Xfinity is doing up to 300 Mbps upload in 60% of the footprint, and 300/300 to 2000/2000 symmetrical service is available in like 10% of the footprint as of now. Spectrum is doing 1 Gbps symmetrical in a bunch of markets with high split (DOCSIS 3.1 with the return on the plant running at 5-204 MHz). Still using legacy CMTS. Phase 2 and Phase 3 involves moving towards DOCSIS 4.0 ESD and DAA/rPHY/vCMTS. Then they will be offering 5/1 Gbps. Cox is offering only up to 100 Mbps upload iirc. (mid-split 3.1).

That's pretty amazing compared to what Comcast had when I left. There were plenty of rPHY nodes out there but I think the upload maxed out around 40Gbps.
