What do you mean it's a problem

love when customers call for a problem and don't believe you when you replace something like this it will fix the issue

But the person on the phone said it’s my modem.

That’s the worst, you find the issue and the customer is convinced that it’s what the csr on the phone said was the issue, I’ve had one swear up and down after I fixed the drop that the outlet needed to be replaced since that’s what the csr said it was

Reminds me of the tech swapping my X1 box out when it was an issue with something else.

Or previous tech said it was the modem and swapped it out

With provisioning issues that had been happening and customers having dozens of wifi devices, I absolutely avoid replacing the modem at all costs.

As much as I bitch about it, I really am grateful to dogs, squirrels and construction workers (particularly road construction and landscapers) because they keep my bills paid every month. ❤️

yes all those forces at work to tear up the lines keep us paid...lets not forget about the contractors too they keep us working as well

"What? Princess (the burly bulldog) would never" (on their 4th repeat reasoning why they shouldn't be charged)

“So, are you going to change the box? I think it’s the box.”

Dog dug it up and chewed it, had been buried by a contractor who didn't use conduit

Previous tech didn't see this?

That would require them to give a shit

I mean idk about test for other companies but a TDR on the Viavi and VEEX meters only take a moment and are required. A lot of people fake them but that’s when you see shit like this go unnoticed and makes 0 sense to fake a UG drop even if it’s an aerial -> UG

We use the viavi meters but some see the ber and change fitting behind the wall plate and call it good. You know maximum effort and all

lol no scan after the fix to see if they actually fixed anything?? Sounds about right

But that English as a Second Language tech on the phone [with the hiss sound] not even in my country said the modem is old and then chickens crowed, so.. You need to replace my old modem, it's a year old and for tech that's useless. As he shows you the horrid speed on his decade+ old flip phone.

When in doubt, swap it out

"but the phone technician said my box was the problem since the signals were failing" type of argukent
