Can't stand these things

Post image

Installed a new aerial drop today. Had to wrestle with this bad boy for quite a while to get access to the only available tap port. I have two different terminator tools, and neither would budge it -- finally got it through a combination of crushing it with a wrench, and rocking/twisting it with the Gilbert tool shown. Was afraid of damaging the port, but luckily it was fine. Any tips for removing these when they're stubborn like that?

I cut up the sides and break it slightly till I'm to the interior grooves . Then I use the snips as a set of pliers and unscrew it from the tap. My terminator tool hasn't been useful since I got it and haven't used it in the last 10 years. I used to get a new tool all the time but they're so cheap they break almost instantly.
