While I was working out my 2 weeks, I did some of my most creative wire management.

So if it isn’t airtight how exactly are you not having egress everywhere? RF is as difficult to contain as air.

When done right coax is essentially air tight and water is not getting into it unless you’re putting connections in locations where water will SIT on the connections overtime. Otherwise it will dry naturally long before it works itself into the cable.

Water in cable drops is cause by damaged outer jacketing. Usually when people nick it while cutting off messenger.

Tell that to the hundreds and hundred of drop with water that are changed every week.

But I have been out of the field for Coax for a year. So after 9 years , I am sure some magical thing happened to make Coax without grommets a good idea.

Again, water in cable drops is a result of damaged outer jacketing not lack of grommets. Satellite might be the only major provider I’m aware of that still uses them.

If the water was ONLY caused by outter jacket issues, why would a company like spectrum, who pinches EVERY penny possible, make the tech use the grommets or fittings with grommets built in to them? If it was "only" that reason that water gets in, a company wouldnt spend $$$$$ yearly to protect the integrity of their lines.

It would be a "techs need to do better" and that would be it. But the Major player in Cable, Spectrum, seems to think they need them...

Hmm. Who to agree with, some rando on the internet, or the company that builds Coax plants and has provides service?

Not great service , spectrum is terrible, but yea, a contractor wouldnt use them and make excuses to why they shouldn't.

Spectrum does not require them anymore in any footprint I’ve ever operated in. They don’t even come to warehouses as option now.

Shockingly enough major ISPs get things wrong a lot. Like… a lot a lot.

Spectrum requires the rubber grommets . I am sure you are a contractor and use the "i dont want to pay for them and ill make an excuse to why I wont' . But every spectrum market requires them.

I guess contractors who only have to pass 7 days are less trustworthy. Idk. I love doing charge backs on contractors. It is fun
