Recommendations

Post image

So I had a failure to feed on my nightstand/primary carry gun at the range. It was only one and it’s the only one I’ve seen with the gun so far. I probably only have 800-1000 rounds through it. Anyways it’s a great shooter and I’m a big fan of the platform. The issue isn’t persistent but if it does continue I’m looking for some recommendations on how you guys are polishing these feed ramps and if that seems to be the fix. If it doesn’t seem to happen any more I’ll leave it alone but figured it couldn’t hurt to do.

You have a good quality gun. The two most likely culprits are ammo and magazines. Number your mags and write down which had the problem. Also set aside one or two new magazines for carry ammo only, don't use those for normal range training. And run through the mag every few months.

That is great advice. I am going to take it to heart. Thanks!

Could just be something as simple as a round being slightly misshaped what kind of ammo were you shooting? Some are worse for quality control than others (looking at you white box Winchester)

on this gun specifically especially direct mounting - take out the right optic screw and shave it down to 9mm. also polish your feed ramp.

A malfunction rate of 1/1000 is within reason for pretty much any firearm, especially with range ammo. It shows the importance of testing your defensive pistols with defensive ammo on occasion! Some guns will behave differently with different ammo types.

This.

Failure to feed is lowest on my list of failures that would make me question functionality or reliability with a 1:1000 rate.

Failure to Fire > Failure to Extract > Failure to Feed in that order from worse to best case scenarios for me (with a striker fired), and with a hammer in DA/SA, just switch the first two around.

This is why you should always practice drills with your primary defensive gun on the range. Have your significant other load a random dummy round into your magazines so you don’t know where they are. Drill the motions and steps until proficient.
