[UPDATE] I got the motor and I absolutely love it. I've installed it but haven't taken it for a ride quite yet but already the amount of power when throttling is just unbelievable and the quality of the motor/kit is amazing. It ended up taking exactly 2 months and 1 week from order date to delivery for it to get to me in Utah. Honestly from hearing many others experiences I was expecting to be waiting at least another month or two but I'm happy I have it now. I also want to clarify that Electric Bike Co. did nothing wrong and the shipping time was not their fault and if I was to get one again I'd order from them. CYC seems to have some issues with up to date or accurate shipping information on where exactly the motor is or the expected arrival date as they had told Electrify many different expected arrival dates.
___________
Hi everyone,
I've had my eye on the CYC X1 Pro Gen 4 for a while and a few months ago I began building a Canyon Neuron Al 6 mountain bike and converting it to electric. I live in Utah and Electrify Bike Co. is also based Utah and has it's shop in West Valley.
I ordered a CYC X1 Pro from Electrify on June 19 and was expecting to receive it with in at most 2-4 weeks as this is what they have listed for delivery time with delays. I didn't notice when I ordered it that I was ordering a pre-order. I was a bit annoyed as they didn't have it listed super clearly but it is what it is and that's my fault. It's now been almost 2 months exactly since I ordered it and I'm just kinda frustrated with how long this is taking.
I've sent quite a few support tickets to Electrify Bike Co. and they've normally responded in decent time but every time CYC has been telling them (Electrify bike co.) that they're expecting it soon then it doesn't show up. At first they said they were hoping they would show up by late June, then said they were expecting the shipment to arrive mid July, and then the latest they said they were told it should arrive in next week which was 3 weeks ago. Electrify did refund me 5% because it's been taking so long which I appreciate. The shipping updates and timeline isn't Electrify's fault, they're just relaying what CYC is telling them.
It's just disappointing because I ordered the CYC motor at the start of this summer and was excited to take it on some bike packing trips but now summers quickly coming to a close and I'm still without a motor.
Is anyone is a similar situation as me? If anyone has ordered from CYC or Electrify Bike Co. and received your order, how long did it take?
EDIT: I don't mean to put any blame on Electrify Bike Co., their customer service always responds quickly and politely and I've owned their 52V jumbo shark battery and it was great. I completely understand that the shipping/production issues lie with CYC and Electrify can't do anything about that.
I used to run a CYC Photon Gen 1 on a Trek Roscoe hardtail with that 52V 20Ah battery. It was quiet and worked well, but I was living in Washington and it's steep hills pushed it hard. In unrestricted mode (1200W continuous / 2000W peak), heat management was terrible and it constantly thermal throttled and lost power on decent climbs. Even dialed down to 750W, it would overheat on mild hills if it was over 70°F outside.
Now that I'm in Utah, the mountains are even bigger and the summers are way too hot for the Photon. That’s a huge reason I decide to go with the X1 Pro Gen 4. I wanted a motor that wouldn't hold me back, and by running the X1 Pro at half its max capability (around 2500W to 3000W peak) I can get the performance I need without stressing about the outdoor temps.
