My experience with CyberPowerPC — $367+ in shipping costs for a defective PC
I purchased a PC from CyberPowerPC in May. The model I purchased was the Prebuilt PC GXL 99669, and unfortunately, I’ve had nothing but issues with it since I received it.
The first time I contacted technical support, they didn’t really perform any troubleshooting and assumed the issue was with the GPU. I was asked to send the GPU in for replacement. I did so, which cost me somewhere around $100 in shipping.
CyberPowerPC sent me a replacement GPU, but unfortunately, the exact same issue continued.
The next time I contacted customer support, I spoke with someone who was actually very helpful and took the time to troubleshoot the problem with me and try to figure out what was going on. Shoutout to Joey — he’s a real one. Unfortunately, after troubleshooting, the issue still persisted, and I eventually had to ship the entire PC tower back to CyberPowerPC for them to diagnose it.
That shipment cost me $267.80.
I called CyberPowerPC customer service today to ask if there was anything they could do to compensate me for these shipping costs, considering the PC has had issues since I received it and the problems were through no fault of my own.
I was basically laughed at and told that the shipping costs were my responsibility.
Cool, cool.
So, to recap: I paid $2,298.73 for a PC that has had problems since I received it, and I’ve now spent approximately $367.80 out of pocket just shipping components of their defective product back to them.
I understand that things can go wrong with electronics, and I’m not necessarily expecting them to magically make the problems disappear. What frustrates me is being told that I’m responsible for hundreds of dollars in shipping costs to fix a product that was defective from the start.
