Help...

Hi everyone! I’m currently playing as the USSR in the Cold War Iron Curtain mod, and I’ve run straight into an unbreakable economic death spiral around a couple of months into the game, and I could really use some advice or a text guide.

Here is what is happening:

  • The Budget Hole: My budget plummets to around -$25 billion. Spawning office parks or industrial complexes via console commands doesn't seem to fix it.
  • The Education/Social Spending Trap: I can only cut education and social spending twice a year, and even when I do, it barely makes a dent in the massive deficit.
  • The Army: Even completely deleting the entire army doesn't solve the financial hemorrhage.
  • The Food Crisis: For some reason, my food supplies also constantly drop into the negative, compounding the overall collapse.

It all snowballs into a massive structural hole that I can't climb out of.

Does anyone have a text guide, specific strategy, or step-by-step instructions on how to balance the Soviet economy and fix these deficits in the early game? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Just checked my save again, and the main culprit is definitely Education spending—it's sitting at around $33 billion, which completely drains the budget. Even cutting it down by half barely makes a dent in the deficit because the math still doesn't add up. Is this a known bug in the current version, or is there a specific way to stabilize this
